ok i know the info is probably here somewhere but can someone help me. i have always had my lyme symptoms on left side of body. i am on 400mg doxy for 6days now. im guessing a herx which is fine but i can not take it my left arm skin is BURNING..and feels like bugs crawling underneath..any good advice?

That symptom....stinks...I had it.
DETOX.....Epsom salt bath...if you can....baking soda water...lemon squeezed into water.....
ALSO....CHILDRENS Benedryl (Not adult) rake some and let it dissolve under the tongue.

You weren't driving a car, were you? Doxy and sun - even sun through the car window do not mix!
Protect yourself - cover up! Even wear gloves when you drive.

bartonella, bartonella, bartonella...have you been treated for it? burning, crawling skin is very cmmon with it and i get it all the time when i herx on the meds for bart...

hi I have Bartonella & Babesia and had severe burning skin after three doses of doxy. It's part of a herx caused by die off.
Actually my reaction to Doxy was so extreme (felt as if I was dying, went chalk white, bad palpitations, feelings of terror, burning all over)and I was so ill at the time my doc switched meds.
Perhaps taking Questran would help with the die off ? - Dr K uses Betasisterol to get rid of neurotoxins too but I haven't tried that.

the doxy can make your skin burn in the sun...be careful with that...
I meant the coinfection of bart itself can make your skin feel the way you are describing also....
doxy won't treat bart or babs by itself..so you would need to combine it with something else for it to eliminate the bart...adn you need special antimalarial meds for the babs altogehter....
you may have been lyme keets when you had such a die off from the doxy..it does do a great job with that!
be extra careful in the sun...don't go by testing for coinfections..go by symotms though...if you have the syotms talk to your llmd about being treated..the testing is too unreliable, adn I believe it is why so many lymies stay sick for so long..they trust the testing and then don't treat he coinfectiions....
just my own personal theory of course...

I get this too, in the sun on doxy and without doxy or meds. Seems to be common symptom.
Even if the sun don't burn you on doxy it can mess with how the skin feels.
Long time ago thought I had lice, kept getting husband to check. That's what it felt like.

Same thing happened to me about 10 days into Rifampin and Flagyl. Both my LLMD and Allergist said it was a herx. I got permission to back off my meds completely for a couple days, and took some Benadryl for a few days until the 'fire' was out. Then I SLOWLY upped my dosage of Rifampin.
Ditto on the testing. I've come up negative twice for Bart, but am being treated for it anyway (Rifampin).

I've definitely had that reaction, but to rocephin and minocycline, not doxy. For me, it was a herx, and subsided after 1 1/2 weeks. The only thing that helped was Celebrex or Bextra, two prescription anti-inflammatories, but not everyone can tolerate these, so you might want to find an over-the-counter version.

Here I thoght it was a reaction to the flagyl or a residual of the lyme/fibro m which was causeing the crawling hot skin from my feet to up past my nose sometimes...or is it down. So bart is the culprit...I to have been neg for any coinfections all along...just can't trust those labs to get much right I guess... I used to soak my feet up to the knees and sometimes put my whole body into the tub with Ice water...really nasty but after the third dip or so I got so numb that the pain went away with the burning. SSSHHHEEEESSSSSHHHHHHHHH what a life we lead. I'd love to find something too that would make it go away. I've been on/off meds for the last four months as my stomach can't tolerate anything. My burning pain started near the inside corners of my eyes and the burning area just keeps growing. Now it's to the top of my forehead and the corners of my mouth, to the temple area on each side. I don't know if it's a herx, but it's really sensitive to touch (burns) and it's been going on for over two months now. There are some days it's really overhwelming, so I'd love to hear any advice for making it go away too. Sometimes it's too painful to wear sunglasses to protect my light sensitivity and I have to choose which pain to deal with. Argh - can't win. I've been having the same burning feeling mostly on my hands since starting doxy and levaquin for lyme and bart also extreme brain fog. i wasn't sure if the burning was a herx or from the sun. They don't look burnt and I am careful. I'll notice it when my hands get wet or a breeze blows across them.
As far as the photosensitivity from the doxy does any sunscreen work or is it best to just cover up?! Thanks Sue

i know what you mean...my skin is sooo sensitive and ON FIRE..and sweats..i can only hope that it is the toxins dying off!!!! i did go from doxy 100mg 2x a day to 4x a day ( sorry dont know abbreviations) and that seems to make herx less intense which mean a milder burn ..im gonna try aloe gel today ill let you know

the tingling all over is also from teh bart probably....i get that when i'm killing those bart keets! usually when i'm herxing..it feels like little prickles all over my skin, almost like little raindrops....
that's bart , along with the burning sensation!
