I recently was seen by a dermatologist who said the tons of tiny white spots forming on my lips (there are more each weeek) are called Fordyce spots. He 'claims' that they're normal and that 'you've always had them'. Yeah right. I would have noticed these. He also says they'll never go away. Has anyone had this and have they gone away? They look like tiny whiteheads and they're increasing bigtime. Could it be related to yeast? Thanks, Rob

Yes Rob, I have the same problem. Dermatologists in SC don't have a clue. I have tried about everything for five years.....nothing makes them go aways that I have tried....even steroid ointments like Elocon. IF you find a solution to this, please let me know! My mouth looks like chapped lips all around the lip (colored) line. What I do is scrub my lips really hard with a face cloth and the white "pimples" I remove with a tweezers.....OUCH..........sigh, so hard to talk about. Being female I can cover the problem with makeup and also using a dark lip liner that makes the actual lip line (RED!!!) less obvious.

I don't know if it's the same thing, but I've had those tiny bumps my whole life.
My doctor said the same thing...normal, harmless and won't go away. Mine are just inside my mouth.
Not really on the outside of my lips. I had them way before I was infected.

fordyce granules are etopic sebaceuos salivary glands near the surface of the cheek tissue. they are yellow in color and are harmless. the spots on your lips may not be fordyce granules, since there is a minimum a salivary and sebaceuous glands in the lip. the lip is mostly a circlular muscle. other options it could be\ 1) herpes simplex or other herpes virus. topical acyclovir will help if this is the case. 80% of the population has herpes virus in there system. if this is the primary outbreak it makes you very ill and high fever. most poeople get them ie cold sores once a year.herpes comes out when the body is under stress either physically or mentally, and lyme does both. 2) could be yeast infection if on abx for long term. tx topical or oral ab nystatin 3) i have spots on my face and under my eye called cholesterol cysts and they can be remve surgically. occasionally they get infected and pus can be extracted from them. i will look further into reasearch on anything else.

I have something like what you describe. I always thought they were where I'd had a cold sore in the past.
