I have been suffering from chronic vaginal yeast infections for the past 6 years. I have been on diflucan (3 months at a time), flagyl, boric acid suppositories, nystatin, cleomycin, metrogel, acidopholis, and many more. I have been tested for every STD at least 3 times. I just went to my PCP b/c of migraines and my blood test came back that I had lymes but not anymore even though I was never treated for it and didn't know I had it. Are any of the medicines I've been on for yeast help with lymes too. Do you think I may have a co-infection? One gyno did a fungal culture on me and it came back as an odiodendrun species but no one has ever heard of this. Any suggestions would be wonderful!!!

Co-infection? Have no idea, but get treated for babs just in case! If you respond to the abx for it, then you most likely have it. Tests are unreliable as with Lyme.

Sorry, I read too quickly! If you haven't been treated for Lyme, then that is probably your problem! i was dxd with systemic yeast before I found out I had lyme too. Lyme suppresses the immune system, making it difficult for your body to kick off the yeast.

I don't think any of the above meds work on Lyme....even if they did, you'd need to take them for quite awhile in order to really kick the Lyme. It's a tough one.

Hi again Mel,

Do you know what test your doc ran for the lyme results? This is very important information, and you need to have a copy of these results for your medical file.

If you will share this info with us, we will try our best to discern whether you need to seek a proper evaluation with a competent specialist for lyme...an LLMD or Lyme Literate Medical Doctor.

These docs are few and far between, and are the most knoweledgeble about this disease.

Let us know, so we may be able to help you further in your quest for some answers, OK?

Have you read the "Yeast Connection" by William Crook. I had chronic yeast infections for about a year, and this book really helped guide me through it.

My problems started after a 2 month antibiotic treatment for my sinuses. I was having the problem that when the yeast died, bad bacteria grew in its place. So it was a really bad cycle.

What finally worked for me was a sugar free low-carb diet, Diflucan once a week, repeated creams, and antibiotics. I also used supplements, but I don't remember which ones.

The medicine used to treat Lyme is antibiotics. Many of us are taking steps to prevent yeast because of the long term antibiotics we are on. There really isn't a possibility for the yeast meds to kill the Lyme, or vice versa.

However, many people find that some of the dietary changes to battle or prevent yeast also help with Lyme symptoms.
