I have horrible drunken brain fog and brain swelling head pain. I've been doing IV's 3x/day for about a month now, Claforan.

During any kind of IV infusion my head seems to get "fuller & fuller" and I can actually feel the fluid in my head. After I finish the IV (it only amounts to about a cup of fluids) I feel "blown up like a balloon" for several hours after.

ANyone else on IV with head pain have this?

Does this go away ever?

I've been doing the IV for about a month now with no noticeable symptom changes except MORE head pressure/pain.

Julie,

Claforan is known to pentrate the Blood brain barrier, its often used in meningitis and brain absesses ( as well as lyme) for that fact.

Because it pentrates so well, it could very well be raising the intracranial pressure that you alreayd have ( headaches) as part of die off.

Have you asked Dr. C for diamox? That might be something you want to ask for.

I wish I had more suggestions, but as I have never been on IV abx, I can't really say much more.

ANyone?

I haven't been on IV, but I did find that zithromax increased my head pain and swelling. I also felt there wasn't enough room in my skull.

It got somewhat better after I had been on it for three weeks, and did seem to be improving other symptoms, so it may have been a herx.

Hope yours improves soon. Sounds like you should check with your doctor.
