Has anyone experienced water retention and swollen legs/ankles/feet from Lyme disease?
How do you get rid of it?

I do, it just comes and goes. I do not know how to actively control it.

Thanks for the replies. What about kidney function? Does it cause the retention?

I have had pitting edema in my ankles for about a year now. Varying degrees. My renal function is fine, and my BP is normal, had one bout of high BP last year, but OK now. Cardiologist says it's stasis, I had a full workup and it's not from a serious heart problem. LLMD says he does see this. I never had it before and even though my lyme is about 50% better, I still ahve the mild to moderate pitting edema in ankles.

The person I am inquiring on behalf of was told their swelling was from Lymphatic fluid build up. It's called lymphedema.
Has anyone had this as a cause of the swelling when battling Lyme?

this is one of my top symptoms, and I know its related to the neurally mediated Hypotension. Its really nasty sometimes and I can go up and down in weight. When its hot out, my ankles swell up like ballons. its not just joints though, my whole body swells. It is also related to eating carbs. if you avoid them you may notice it going away gradually.
I first had symptoms two summers ago when I was on Cipro and went to high altitude camping. It presented as classic altitude sickness which I have never experienced, even post lyme until then. But ever since that week, I have had an intermittent problem with pitting edema. When I go to high altitudes, I have to go on a NO-salt, not low salt, diet. Otherwise the swelling is ridiculous. At home, it has no effect if I eat alot of salt or don't eat alot of salt.
