hello, i had my very 1st appt w/ a llmd, he is sending me to have a brain spec done, i guess it is somewhat like a mri. i had 3 mri's already. i was wondering if anyone knew what this is, or what the difference is , also why is the test done. i appreciate any info you can give me , debi

Enter "spect" scan in the search window and you'll find alot of info.
Helps the Doc understand the ramifications of this disease on your brain.
It is very accurate, too. Wished I had one early on.

Dont worry about the procedure,its painless,just like an MRI.You do get one needle but no biggy.The most painful part is getting into NY.My spect came back highly abnormal and Ive never got a positive lyme test so it can help diagnose you.Joe

I had s SPECT scan done, just as Joe says it is painless.."the most painful part is getting into New York." Boy is that the truth, I never want to drive into New York city again.
I didn't have as hard a time with the SPECT scan as I did with the MRI, the MRI made me feel too enclosed.
