On day two I got a reoccurence of a weird itchy bumpy rash which lasted a week.
About day 10 I crashed with crushing fatigue, which lasted pretty much the rest of the course.
Would ya like some sheepskin seat covers to go with your new car?
....Wrap em' up! I'll take them!
About day four I felt like a cloud escaped from my brain right out my ears on just Mepron. I could see and think clearly. Then, the Zith was added in slowly and I went on IV Rocephin. I had 8 great days in a row. I thought my prayers had been answered. Then, I started to get achy, dizzy, tired, etc. I had a mix of good and bad days. On day 27 I crashed.
I had a constant herx for about 20 days. The Mepron crash is a like a head on collision. Your corvette (I like that analogy) will hit the wall, and it won't bounce back. The body shop will tease with promises that it is being fixed, only to discover when you go to pick it up it still isn't ready. That is what months 2 & 3 were like. I would have some good days, where I thought I was getting better, and then the herx slams again.
I am into month #4 and so far, I have been slowly & steadily improving. I am massively fatigued at times. But, the bad days no longer slam me. I can actually function at some level. I am by no means symptom free but the herxes seem less severe - more like bad hours instead of bad days.
Let us know how you are doing. Must say, the other Mepron ingesters on this forum helped me lots to understand & cope with the Mepron herx.

I'm on my 10th day of the Mepron and starting the 250 mg of Zith BID tomorrow!
Must say I'm sooooo very tired. I can't seem to function.
Is this a side effect or a herx?
What do you think regarding yours? I've also been itching more than usual and more dizzy!
I was hoping it was some kind of "twisted" GOOD sign!!!
Thanks,
Sherry

Most of the old posts say that day 3-4 and week 3-4 are the herx times and then most started to really get better.
I'm on week 4 and have been more itchy like bugs are biting me. I've also had the stiffness, sore joints, weakness, some headaches, lots of stabbing pains-some bone deep like someone is prodding me with a fire poker (not hot though).
Every day, when I get up, I feel like calling in sick to work but I get myself ready and go anyway. I had a bad flu when I started all of this and only took 1 tsp mempron/day for the first 3 days. I was more interested in the zithromax at the time.
I had a bad day 3-6ish then was good for 2 or so weeks. Last week, I started with more pain/fatigue and haven't been as active as I had been. It seems to slowly be letting off now.
I don't know if I have a greater tolerance or if I'm not reacting the same way as others do but it just seems that no matter what, I just keep going.
It's not pleasant. I don't have a clean house. All my energy goes in to work, these DD's and my dogs.
I heard a good one the other day. "Life? I heard it's a social disease."
That pretty much sums it up.
I've been trying to figure out how to explain the taste of Mepron. I think so far paint that they've tried to make taste like bubble gum is about the best.
My dry sense of humor is showing. I better go now.
Hope this helps. It made me feel better.

I think that people who don't have a bad time with their treatment don't post about it as much as people who do have a bad time.
I don't think that everyone has really bad herxes with this combo. It just seems that way because people who are having a bad time or have had a bad time want to talk about it more than those who don't.
That's the same thing put 2 different ways...
Oh well. I y'all didn't understand the first then maybe the second explanation did it.
Take care,
Corgilla
I'm of no help - I didn't herx at all. I think it worked and my doc think it worked, I'm just a bit more herx resistent.....until this past week LOL!

I got the itching too. It was pretty constant for a couple of weeks. But, that seems to have gone away.
Delt: The good days do come. They are sporadic for me - unpredictable. But, they are such a nice relief. However, I do way too much on those days and then feel crappy for a few days after. My MD and Nurse both scolded me this week. They told me to "pretend" I am still sick on my good days. Hang in there.
Yellow crayola is what this stuff looks and tastes like to me.

I've been on so many meds since 1999. I've been on Mepron before but just one round and not w/ Zithromax. I don't remember feeling this TIRED the first time.
I'm glad my retirement was approved because there is no way I could hold a job now. I hate being so useless!
Just hoping and praying that this "corvette" takes me to a better place!!!
Thanks to all who offered their experiences - It helps to not feel so isolated.
