Yep. That's what the NYS OPMC wrote to us after we complained that they were targeting doctors who treat chronic Lyme disease.

They said that in judging Lyme doctors they rely on guidelines that say that "rarely, if ever, are more thatn 2-3 weeks of antibiotics necessary to cure Lyme disease."

New York has the most cases of Lyme disease and many of the most experienced and renowned LLMD's.

So, trendsetters that we are in NYS, doctors across the country have gotten the message that if they want to treat Lyme with more than 3 weeks of antibiotics, they could lose their licenses.

So, if you are wondering why it is so hard to find an LLMD, you now have a big part of the answer.

But we ae fighting back.

But you gotta make some calls and emails before Tuesday. That's when the NYS legislature adjourns.

We have to get them to bring the OPMC Reform bill S4148 to the floor for a vote.

Here is what you have to do. It will take a few minutes only.

A) FOR ALL LYME PATIENTS IN ALL STATES:

Please call and email Governor George Pataki right away. Telephone messages can be left on his answering machine.

Has anyone been retested after several weeks of antibiotics? Wouldn't that be conclusive evidence that the antibiotics cures Lyme if it does?

My doctor has been suggesting that I get retested after my IV Rocephin. I know I still have the symptoms. It would be interesting to discover that the test comes out negative.

Lyme test results are are not necessarily accurate and false negatives occur frequently. Because of this, there is no test for a cure and if any doctor tries to convince you otherwise, the "Duck Alarm" should go off immediately.

It depends on how early you catch it as well. My father used to cut is own firewood at the end of summer or early fall. One day he pulled a tick off of his leg back in 83'. About 5 days later had a huge bullseye rash. Went to the doctor, who gave him 7 days of doxy. He hasn't had a problem since twenty-one years ago.

I am not that lucky I never saw a rash or knew how serious Lyme could be. I do faintly remember pulling a tick off of myself in 96' at my old house. Don't know if that was it or not. Looking back I remember faint Lyme symptoms since around that time though. i.e. restless leg syndrome, crying for little or no reason, shin splints, motion sickness in the passenger seat, tinitus, poor stamina. Got worse through the years until last year when I finally realized something was very wrong.

That might be true, but if you don't follow the action alert at the beginning of thss thread, you might not have a doctor.
