I am on my 7th day of 400mg dose of doxy. Yesterday I strted to have the strangest sensation on the back of my hands, after taking them out of water and again today. Could this be a side effect from the abx? A herx?

You are not alone!

I have this sensation on and off, it was at its worst when I was taking minocin. Sorry I can't explain it technically for you. It really is a strange sensation!

I am sure someone will be along with more info for you!

Take care!

Dawn,

I know EXACTLY the feeling you are describing. Especially when you get your hands wet. Felt just like I had washed my hands with Ben Gay! I'm sure my husband thought I was nuts when I tried to explain it to him!

I too had that on 400 mg Doxy. I had alot of problems with sun poisoning and thought maybe that had something to do with it since my hands would break out so bad.

But then I noticed I would have it come on even when I wasn't in the sun. It got better the longer I was on the doxy. So maybe it was herx related. Now I'm down to 200 mg doxy/1,000 mg Biaxin per day and I don't get that strange feeling in my hands anymore.

Have you noticed it being worse when you are in the sun? On 400 mg doxy I would get burnt just driving to the grocery store in the car! I had sun poisoning up and down my hands and arms constantly. Please be careful with the sun while you are on the doxy!

Doxycycline is known to react to sunlight. You can feel like you are burning from the inside out, after you have been in the sun. You can get a horrible sunburn ASAP too. Also remember to not drink milk while taking Doxy.

I do know that the burning tingling will eventually go away with good treatment. Have your Thyroid checked as well.

Thats it! A feeling of washing hands in Ben Gay!! I laughed so hard at that one.

I also have it, it started my third week of Doxy, howveer that was also my first week of Levaquin so I BLAMED it on the Levaquin and thought it was a reaction to the Levaquin.

I called my LLMD who said stop the Levaquin as it COULD indicate an intolerance and retry in 3 days. So, i restarted it and on teh 5/6 day this feeling started again so I then faxed my LLMD again and got a message from his assistant to keep taking it. So, now I'm confused, 2 different opinions from 2 different people. I am holding off on the Levaquin not until I see the LLMD next week now to be sure what to do.

I am still on doxy alone now, but that Bengay feeling is MUCH MUCH better after stopping the Levaquin.

I also had the BenGay feeling in my toes.

I have just started the hand symptoms today. I am on my second week of Doxy. I personally think it is a herx as I have experienced these symptoms in the past.
