Hi all, i recently had a phone consultation with my llmd Dr P, i've been on biaxin and plaqeunil for 17 weeks now and he generally doesn't like to keep his patients on this for longer than 4 months, so we were discussing possibly going on mepron and zithromax, but he also mentioned cetec and mepron, but he hasn't had any experience with it, has not givin it to any of his patients yet. anyway he said that it was better that zithromax for treating lyme, and it also treats babesia, which i tested neg for, but we all know that doesn't mean anything. it's been a year since i was bitten, i still have lingering symptoms of joint, nerve and muscle pain, however i did get about 80 to 90% better. so has anyone ever taken this or heard of it? thanks

Ketek Telithromycin- a new abx. called ketolides - a major breakthrough in the tx. of drug-resistant resp.illnesses, including penumonia, bronchitic and sinusitis.
Most of these infections are caused by a strep bacterium...this class of abx.'s (ketolides) block bacteria's ability to make life-sustaining proteins.
As I understand older abx.'s disable protein manufacture in just one location: Ketolides strike in two spots, reducing the chance of resistance....
Thanks to the medical update in Readers digest....
Our son was on Cedax in the beginning of tx. its an oral abx. ...he's responding much better to IV Rocephen, po zithromax
Good luck
