I was pretty sure that I did not have an active during pregnancy and nursing. (At the time, I thought my first bout of lyme had been cured.. undertreated and told I was fine by the GP... you know how it goes)
We did discuss having him and his 12 yo brother (my stepson) tested soon, as my husband was just diagnosed and has begun treatment.
The 12yo's only symptoms over the years have been learning problems since 1st grade and tummy issues each morning.
The 5 yo's only symptoms are that he complains of leg pain below the knee. This happens maybe once a month, but it's bad enought to make him cry. Also, his behavior is VERY sensitive to whether he's gotten enough sleep and whether he's hungry. He gets VERY silly and crazy.
The doc said that although she's not a fan of random testing for lyme, both the kids are showing enough symptoms to get them tested.
So we've planned to do that soon.
But while on vacation this week, a pretty sizable mosquito was munch on the 5yo's back before my husband was able to get it. When he did, he smushed it while it was still sucking.
At first, the bite was typical, though big. It was about 1/4 inch in diameter and white at first. But the next day, a bullseye developed around it. It was a line around the bite, about 1/2 inch away from the bite, but off center.
After doing some initial research, there seems to be very little evidence out there that mosquitos are a vector for lyme.
I'm wondering if he already has lyme and the bite somehow reacted with the lyme which caused that bullseye?
I seem to remember Lish's mom describing something similar happening with her husband...???
Any ideas anyone?
I took several pictures of the bite with the ring around it and I will call the doc in the am and see if she wants see him.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Sheesh! Never a dull moment!

What is odd is a week ago or so i had several misquito bites on the back calf of my leg. One morning they itched and i was putting med on and noticed one of them had also a ring around it to with bumps it was hot and then by the next day it was the size of a grapefruit on the back of my leg. It eventually got smaller and looked like a bruse the size of a golf ball. Its finally going away but still brown. Odd
I wondered the same thing about the misquito bite.
I though well maybe a spider bit me instead who knows. I have read misquitos can carry lyme not sure if its proven or not tho.
I wondered also if it was a reaction and got the lyme riled or what.
Hope he dont have it tho and perhaps just an alergic type reaction to it. DONT lIKE TO SEE CHILDREN GET LYME. Its bad enough for adults to get this mess.

I spoke with doc at Bowen about the release of 700 mosquito`s with mycoplasma. Awhile back in Puenta Gorda Fl. Gosh knows how much breeding has went on.
Soon after U.S. & Canada relaeased these mosquito`s about 3/4 of the surrounding population came down with what is called cfids. There has been huge cover-up. Hard to even find the info.
I 1st got sick after Fl. vacation.
Recently have been bit again, they thought WNV, I was to sick to drive or get to doc or ER. Had bout with encephalitis. Was very ill, have not rebounded. My lyme has progressed at much more rapid rate.
My arm was huge, took long time to go down. Have scar still.
I think it either aggrivated what was already there or stirred up co-infect. Not WNV. You get better after time normally with that. I am really sick. No 1 knows what to do. Month ago bit again almost same area. Did not get as ill. But it sure did not help. I now am nauseated 24/7. Pain non stop, extreme fatigue. To even get to shower or bathroom many days. If I go out to pick up meds & run errands. I am down for weeks instead of a day or 2.
Working with Bowen I have no doubt there is a link.
Good Luck get him checked outfor myco or co-infect. If you can afford. Bowen would be able to show it to you.
There are articles about this happening often in Asia. If I can find one of these articles, I'll post a link for you.
Sorry to hear you are going through all this again.....Let us know what the doc tells you.
By the way - good move on the pictures!
I'm sure those will help.
Good Luck!
I'm going to call my LLMD this am. I'll even see if she'd like me to email a picture of the rash.
It's a three hour drive one way, but I'll get on the road asap if she feels it's warranted.
I suspect that he's had lyme all along, from birth and that, like Dave said, the toxins in the bite are reacting with the lyme to bring out the rash.
I'll let y'all know what happens.
Thanks again.

What is this story about the release of all these infected mosquitos?
