My daughter is taking amoxicillian twice a day for lyme for a total of 800mg. I thought I read somewhere that it should be taken every 8 hours. Should I be splitting it and giving it to her 3 times a day instead of 2?

The recommended dosage for children is 50 mg/kg/day divided into 8 hour doses.
So if your child is 80 lbs you divide that by 2.2 to get kg which is 36 kg.
50 mg times 36 equals 1800 mg/day divided by 3 doses. Every 8 hours the child should get 600 mg in this scenario.
