I've been reading all of the posts for months now and I haven't seen one success story. Am I missing them or are there just none out there or once someone gets better they don't post?

I'm sure it's very hard for some of us to understand when we read each other's stores, meds, etc. Each of our cases are different. For me it has been VERY SCARY reading some of the posts and how long some people have been dealing with this disease. I think it would be enlightening to hear some success stories.

What do you all think?

I am sloooowly getting better although I feel like I have a long way to go.......but I am encouraged by my progress thus far.....I know it is discouraging in the beginning, but it really does get better......really........hang in there

I have several wonderful success stories in the making in our family.

I will let you know, they are not fast in arriving...they took pains taking time to get from disabled to nearly fully functional.

I work on a task force with several who have had near complete recoveries, and continue to stay in remission....in some cases over 7 years now.

Keep your chin up. (search "Mileposts" as the subject. That is our story...
I have to add to it...
Daughter has been hospital free now since last October, off all heart meds, and has just stopped pain meds...and is not in pain anymore.

Active, healthy young teenager...which I thought would NEVER happen three years ago.

While I am not 100% yet, I am doing very well. I took myself off all meds in April and haven't felt this good in 4 years!

Also, I have found that as one gets feeling better, they spend less time hunting for answers and doing research, so it makes since that they spend less time on forums like this...

So even though we may miss them here on lymenet, it is wonderful that they are feeling so healthy.

Most of the people who have success stories no longer post on this board because they are better and want no more to do with Lyme talk. I know when I am feeling great I tend to not want to be dragged down by Lyme talk too.

There are loads of success stories here, and the more people you talk to who are under good care and have had aggressive treatment the more you will see the level of improvement. Many of us have gone from bedridden blobs of pain to functioning and gaining back some or all aspects of our life! Hang in there!

As I wrote to you in an email...there are lots of success stories because success is a relative term,

There are very few stories of people being "cured" completely.

I've only been on this board for a reltively short time and know of no people who claim to be lyme free. "Cured"

However, you will get better...how much better depends on you and your lyme literate Doctor.

I guess she is right about people that get cured never post anylonger.
Chin up you may just be one of those folks that caught it early enough......the zman

I'm a "well" lymie! I popped in tonight to see what my old friends were up to and saw your post. By the time I got diagnosed I was almost on diability. I had active lyme disease, active Epstein Barr (mono) and active babesiosis. I don't know how I stood 40 hours a week and did hair, probably because I had to.

I was SO afraid of the herxing! I knew I'd see halucinations, my muscles would scream in pain . . . but in reality I just felt like I had the flu really bad.

It happened slowly but surely that after 2 months of treatment I began to remember things better, then my energy picked up. After 2 1/2 years of treatment I am HAPPY to get up every day. Ok, MOST days :-).

My nephew was sick w/lyme too. He lost from 186 lbs to 125 and no fancy hospital could diagnose him. He took took a few months to turn the first curve and then at 6 months you could see an upward swing. Today, 2 years later, he has graduated from college and is spending his summer wuth friends surfing in Hawaii and working at night. His parents had been told to "make arrangements" when the lyme test from Bowen came along to bust up the 3 major hospitals that missed it.

There are GREAT stories out here. We're just busy living our lives now.

I wish you well, but then, with the right treatment and a little time,I know the wellness will come.

I was a 21 year old bed ridden college student only four years ago.
Very sad!

My recovery was slow, and I have been off antibiotics for almost a year now. I am feeling some symptoms again - but NOTHING like prior to treatment. I have learned to listen to my body and am taking precautions to keep myself healthy.

I'm not sure if I'm "cured". But I do know that I feel a lot better now and am functional once more.

I know this disease is very scary.
At some point most of us have freaked out. To be completely honest with you, I must admit I am still afraid. But I don't let it come in the way of enjoying my life anymore. I cherish the moments I get to spend with my family and friends. I tend to enjoy the present much more and not worry about the future as much.

I don't know what else to say.
I'm sorry you are going through this and wish you and your son the very best.
