Hello, I recieved the following email from a friend today:

Over the weekend I had terrible joint pain....I was in tears with the pain.
On my arm I noticed a black speck with a pimple like thing. I picked it completely off and now feel back to normal.....I dunno. There was no rash but it had not been there long.

I suspect that speck was a nymph or seed tick and my suggestion to her was to seek treatment for possible Lyme.

I thought she should ask for Doxy 200 mg twice daily for about 6 weeks?

What do you guys think? Your opinion is greatly valued!

To be on the safe side, your friend should get an evaluation with an LLMD. As you know, not everyone gets a rash, or she made have had a rash and just didn't take note of it while it was visible.

Good call on your part to recommend she seek possible treatment.

Or--she could have contracted some other TBD that does not give an obvious rash--

Hi SC,

I agree with you, I think she should seek tretment and be checked for possible co-infections.
