Hi Debi,
I saw your post about the dizziness and shortness of breath, etc.

I think those are also symptoms of Babesia. I know that LD symptoms & Babesia symptoms overlap, but just treating for Lyme never helped my shortness of breath. Mepron seems to help that.

My Bowen test was negative for Babesia, but I did have a huge die-off when I did a trial run of Mepron/Zith for Babs.

I'm on my second bottle & it's been tougher to get through.

Dr. B. says folks can have a silent case of BABS, but if you do have it------yours doesn't sound very silent!

Just a thought! Do you think I'm way off track here?
Take Care,
Jan

i have not started treatment yet, my llmd called today they are trying to get i approved thru my ins.

i am very anxious to start, i have had this for 4yrs, and pretty much all the symptoms everyday, some new weird ons come and go, but the big ones stay morning till night.

did you have a rapid heart beat? i have had 4 possitive tilt table tests done , so if i have ONLY lyme then i has definitly effected my cns. i feel drunk all the time.

ihave been out of work again for 7months now, and i really want to go back. how ironic i work for a home iv company. haha.

Hi Debi,

So kind of you to respond about the BABS question. Wow---- you tested positive for BABS! Well, sounds like you have everything under control as far as getting good treatment. That's great to hear.

Yep, I started typing BABS for Babesia or Babesiosis.

I had rapid hearbeat constantly (pulse was 102) & I believe it's improved, along with the shortness of breath. If I were to herx big time on Mepron/Zith, then all my BAB symptoms would come out at once just for a couple of hours though.

I'm just now starting my 3rd bottle of Mepron/Zith and return to LLMD in August. I still have a 4th refill which I hope he will approve for me. I started treatment for Lyme in May 2003 and BABS this past June.

It's only since I started the BABS treatment have I felt like joining the board. I never had the energy to register or be involved.

Take Care of yourself. Keep us posted on you & your Dad's progress when you feel up to it.
Jan

Hi Debi,

Can't believe your pulse is 150. That's got to feel horrible----like you're going to jump out of your skin.

I don't have experience with a PIC line, but if your LLMD wants to do the IV Rocephin, you'll probably get a more adequate dosing of Rocephin 2 grams daily, than I did. That may totally clear up your elevated pulse; you just never know.

You'll probably be prescribed Actigall (get generic) capsules which are only a preventative for gallstones taken on days you take Rocephin. It protects your gallbladder-----it's up to your LLMD.

I did oral Zithromax from May 2003 to Sept 2003 & then went on daily Rocephin l GRAM injections. When I wasn't progressing (still had shortness of breath & petchiae) we switched to Mepron/Zithromax for BABS.

I'm on 3rd bottle of Mepron & return to LLMD in August. He'll decide whether to go back & treat the Lyme again or stay on Mepron.

I still have some Rocephin injections to take, but I'm waiting for BABS treatment to be completed. I really don't know what's ahead. Actually, I would love to have one of those injections today. I'm anxious to see what Rocephin will do this time around.

I asked for Flagyl early in treatment, but he said that it would throw me for a loop. While on Rocephin I was placed on Flagyl and to this day it's hard to take.

Flagyl bursts the cystic form of Lyme, but also kills off certain fungus; & acts on the central nervous system. It does help stomach/colon infections though.

They gave my husband Flagyl for diverticulitis/inflammation of colon pouches.

I am 49 now & went undiagnosed for about l5 years. Hate to bore you but my main symptoms were: insomnia, left droopy eyelid, facial pain, left ear pain, neck weakness & pain, essential tremor of head; weak voice; TMJ & chemical depression & more.

By 2002, the neck pain had gone up to the back of my head. So I would get excruciating pain there & across my forehead. Anyway, mostly neurological stuff & more pain than I could ever describe.

But I'm very excited about you getting such good treatment. You're so young to go through all this.

Let me know if I can help. Hope your Dad's situation is working out good.
Take Care,
Jan
