Hi guys. Well, my huband (who also has LD) and I have a friend who's doing his medical residency - currently a rotation with an Infectious Disease Dr. (ick)
Well, anyway you can guess - now this friend is expressing concern that we're being over medicated and has "heard" about our LLMD...I guess I think he's helping

I'm so mad I want to call and read him the riot act, but know I should calm down first.

Any suggestions how to turn this into a positive experience?

Grrrrr

Well the mean side of me says sneek in a lyme, babesia, eric, and bart tick to the ID DOC first and your friend if he wont listen and let it stick to them. Wait two years then talk to them because by then they might believe you.

BUT mean isnt who i am so i would gather all the info i could and talk to your friend.

I for one went to a doc in pa. Was given i mean super high loads of med. Like four thousand mg of doxy and one thousan mg of amoxi. That was antibiotics alone didnt inclued the other what twenty eight pills a day. I was needless to say sick as a dog for months i went to this doc for eight months. I was concerned about the high doses of meds.

I had lyme for two years before this doc found it. I was heavy so hince the big doses supposidly. I quit going because of something else but also because i was concerned about high abx.

Felt fine then one year later symtoms got worse. By the way when i quit i still had symptoms. Got so sick went to another doc and had a Western Blot and whammy a very, very high possitive. Sooooooo even taking that high of abx for eight months did not knock the lyme out. So thirty days abx is only for the newly bitten person.

So if thirty days works explain to me the high wb. Or continued herxes now seven years later off and on of meds.

My thing to them is walk in my shoes for the time i have then come tell me my abx is to much or wrong.

What drives me nuts is people act like we love to take antibiotics i mean come on.
If your friend knows you well enough then you should be able to talk to him and give him your proof. Gee maybe he would become lyme literate. If he also thinks your wrong then as a doc call your doc find out why he believes what he does they would be able to speak the lingo.

All else fails then you have to agree to disagree.

Try to educate the 2 ducks. You never know, he may listen - if he truly believes his friend is sick and needs help.

Ask him what HE, DR FancyPants, would do in terms of treatment. If he says "30 days of DOXY" I think we all give you permission to hit him over the head with the nearest blunt object! And quack while you do it! hee hee.

Then, if all else fails, resort to my favorite mantra -
"Ignore Ignorance!"

Hey Yo,
Ask him and his mentor if they would like to engage in a tongue twirling, spit swapping,Kiss...If not, ask them why not?

Lark, I hear your frustration. I've experienced the same fluff as well.

My retort: Find me a more efficacious and benign panacea for Lyme and I'm all ears. Until then, this is the only treatment protocol available that's shown efficacy.

I'm so tired of ducks criticizing LLMDs & their regimens when these ducks have nothing better to offer (other thank a stack of SSRIs).
