I am just curious as to how they determine that some are more contaminated than others and why?

Because some are more commonly bothered by pests & therefore more commonly sprayed, more often & with stronger pesticides.

Some are less bothered by pests which require less pesticides.

I don't take any chances. I eat all organic. I know that nothing is "pure" these days but I feel that organic is at least the best chance you have.

They physically test the number and level of pesticides after the fruit/veg has been washed normally. There is a ranking based on how many residual pesticides found, and how high the concentration is. In some fruits, more than 15 residual pesticides were found in measurable quantities even after the fruit had been washed. The site explains the methodology in more detail.

Good find...thanks! Put it in my MS word files.

The use of pesticides depletes the minerals in our foods.

Yes, I know we need to make more food for more people, but that puts us at greater risk for disease...fewer minerals in our foods.

I used to date this Prof. who also had his PHD in herbs. He is fanatical when it comes to cleaning off fresh fruits/veg.

He soaks them in Hydrogen Peroxide for HOURS. Then scrubs them with soap and water.

Imported grapes have about 34 different pesticides sprayed on them.

Clearly the priority when it comes to our food is NOT that it be healthy for the human body. IT's a terrible thing that you have to fight to not have your food be poisoned.

Did he ever get around to eating the produce?

H2O2 is an acid. This will further deplete the minerals.
