Well yesterday while dressing my 18 month old daughter I noticed a suspicious ring shaped rash on her arm. I took her to a friends house today who happens to be an MD and he asked if she had been in any woods lately,it looks to him like a like a lyme tick bite. Next comment, but Ohio doesn't have Lyme. He advised me to see my Pediatrician tomorrow.
What would be an appropriate antibiotic and dosage for one so young? As it is proximate to the bite, are six weeks still advised, and do I need to worry about yeast? Thanks in advance.

Well, guess what? There's Lyme in Ohio now.
I'm not a doc, but that looks like a textbook bullseye rash.
How long has your husband had Lyme?
How have you been feeling?
There still is so much not known about Lyme transmission whose to say how your little one (may have) gotten it.

For years all states have reported except for Montana (and most likely because it is not diagnosed).
I guess there is no AIDS in Ohio either.
In 1983 there were cases in Ohio that met CDC statistical guidelines...how many years have gone by? Almost 22 years and Dr.'s still say there is no Lyme in Ohio??

Now that's ironic. I was just speaking with someone this morning that used to live in Montana.
She was telling me that Montana is filled with Lyme patients.

I am so sorry for this sweetheart. I hate to hear children getting this mess.

I live in Gurnsey county and got bit seven years ago on my own property. Called one time to get them to put it in the paper we had lyme they said we dont want to incite panic. Then i called again when i had my WB and was told that they check deer every year and have found none. YEAH right so i guess the ten or more people I KNOW OF local were the lucky million dollar winner of the special tick.
I have thought of printing out all my info and go door to door with it.Trouble is i havnet got the strength right now.
Least the md you seen recognized it that in itself is a shock.

Your daughter's rash is certainly bulls-eye looking.

Yes, earlier this spring I removed a tick from my oldest daughter's arm. No symptoms and before I knew Lyme was in Ohio.
In the past we regularly hiked, and often brushed off ticks. Do to disability we have not been in the great outdoors at all this year.

What a good idea to bring info along. In times past my pediatrician has been open to being educated about other issues and has been willing to work with me. I hope this is the case today.
Did your Dr. find any info particularly helpful? I still feel like such a newbie at this.
