Well the best way for me to describe it (and I am sure someone will give you a better definition) is the reaction your body shows through symptoms from anitbiotics that are killing the spirochete. It produces a toxin when it dies and makes you have a reaction.

Herx is the reaction a person with lyme gets when they take antiboitics that kill off the spirokeets in there systems.

The antibiotic bursts the keets which in turn puts poisons into the lyme patients system. Depending on the load of lyme in them will determine how sever it may or may not be.

It will increase symptoms or perhaps cause symtoms that you may already have to become worse.

Sometimes the herx lasts for a few days to maybe two weeks in some. Some have even felt it lasted all month and never seems to let up.

You can get herxes if you become hot raising your body temperature. Lyme hate heat.

Stress can put a hormone out and hince bring on a type of herx from kill off.

Generally people who are put on antibotics will get a herx three to four days into taking meds. I think its when we get enough of it in our systems.
