HI all,

Having a hard time right now. I've been on the abx (Ceftin 1000mg/day) for 54 days now. Yes, I feel a little bit better but I just want this over with already!

Please don't scream at me when I say this but I went to my family doctor yesterday. He is the one who is has been treating me for my lyme thus far. He's been great about it and promises me that he'll get me through this no matter what we have to do. He is sending me to a cardiologist because my heart pounds at times. He is also sending me to an infectious disease doctor. (I know, you all don't like them.) Where I am going one of them is supposed to be a LLMD. I know his name but not sure if I can post it here. Anyway, I am not seeing him but someone else in the practice. It is a Lyme Disease center or so they say when I called to make the appointment. I am going in next Tuesday. My doctor also gave me a prescription for my ceftin for the next four months but he lowered the dose to 500mg/day. (250mg twice a day)

You guys, I am so worried that I am not going to feel better. That's all I want. I want my life back. From reading some of your posts I know I am not as sick as some of you...I can function. I had it for 8 months withough being diagnosed and know when I got the bite. But I just want to feel better already. Is there light at the end of the tunnel? Please tell me there is.

My main symptoms are:

- joint pain (MOSTLY knees and jaw)
- brain fog
- insomnia (I can't stand it! I can't relax!)

Please give me some hope, any of you. I know you all say go to an LLMD...but I can't afford one. I truly trust my doctor, I really do. If I were to go to an LLMD and he/she prescribed me the meds...my insurance won't pay, right? But what if the LLMD told my GP what to give me...could it be done that way?

Thanks for any response!

M

Cave,

But how do we know we're being properly treated?

Thanks for your reply.

You will get better.Unfortunately there is no fast forward button. I nearly gave up.It took me about 18 months to turn the corner on lyme and babesia. Other people and even wimps like myself get their lives back or at least a good chunk of it. So will you.

Based on my own experience and despite your doctors best intentions, you really need to see a LLMD.Your recovery might go a little faster and you just might not be necessary and your recovery might go a little faster.

Let me get that last sentence right. With a good LLMD you just might not have to see any more so called specialist.

Oz,

Thanks for the response. But how do we know that we are being treated correctly? AND...when you go to an LLMD...they don't accept insurance...right? So whenthey prescribe abx to you...does your insurance cover that? So far, my insurance company has been great with my meds. The Ceftin is VERY EXPENSIVE...$260 for three weeks worth...I only pay $25. I can't afford an LLMD if they are $300 for a visit and then meds on top of that. But my main question is HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU ARE BEING TREATED CORRECTLY???!!??
