Since starting the treatment, my condition has steadily become worse. I have developed the light-headedness, vertigo and increased pain in my joints and muscles.
Is this herxing? How long does a herx usually last? Should I be increasing my meds?
I also have a question about cysts. I have developed a growth on the top of my head that is rough to the touch, has no color, is about the size of a pea, and 1/8" thick. Could this be a cyst from the Lyme?
WELCOME To LYMENET
Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.
Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.
Post for a LLMD in Seeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.

You've been given some really good information.
I've had plenty of cysts of which was from Lyme Disease. However, anything like that that is suspicious, then be sure and have your doctor do a look-see and be sure it is not something else.
Too, you really need to be seeing a doctor that has great knowledge and experience dealing with Lyme Disease and it's co-infections. To not do that is just having you backing up on your road to wellness.
To go forward and start making real progress, I'd highly suggest that you get yourself to a real Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD).
In my opinion, having Rocephin as your first defense and only backing it up with 100mg of Doxy is not getting the cyst form of the bacteria, not to be confused with the cysts you are talking about in your post. This is the bacteria that forms microscopic cysts and you would not be able to feel them.
Good luck and come here often and read and educate yourself...that is your greatest defense when dealing with a very complicated bacteria as the Lyme spirochete is very cunning and baffling bacteria.

PS, If you have not already, post over in Seeking and Doctor forum and put the area of the country you are a lookin in the title. But, also, remember that real LLMDs are not just any ole doc who says that he treats Lyme Disease...they are very few of them in the US and very far in between.
So you will probably have to travel as most of us do have to travel great distances to see ours. I travel 6.5 hours, one-way, to see mine and I feel he is rather close compared to how far some posters here travel.
Make sure, too, that s/he comes highly recommended by someone that s/he has helped and that s/he is a member of www.ilads.org so you'll know s/he'll be in the right camp.
100mg of Doxy per day is not enough to do anything to the Lyme bacteria other than get them more aggressive. You would not be given just 100mg by an LLMD...so that is one of the reasons I was thinking that you were not seeing someone experienced enough to get you on the road to wellness.
You have had this for a very long time, and it will take a long time to get rid of it, or get it under control enough for you to live a normal life and without all those dosing off episodes.
Again, Welcome,
Rosemary
