Hi,

I think I may have a yeast infection. Nothing "down there" but in my mouth. I have this terrible taste in my mouth and my tongue is a little bit white. I got some of that acidophouls (I spelled that wrong) today at the grocery store. I just took my abx about an hour ago. When can I take these acid pills? How many do I take? Oh, my IgA on my bloodwork was a little high...I did some searching on it here at lymenet and saw that it could be high because of yeast. Is that true? Anyway, I'm hoping to hear what I should do. Should I call my doctor on this?

Thanks,
M

You should be taking probiotics daily - but not something from Walmart etc.- get the best quality you can find with the highest number of live bacteria(Check with a local Health Food store/Natural Foods store. High quality probiotics should always be refrigerated. We keep it in the freezer!). Take them several hours away from your antibiotics.

It may be necessary to contact your doctor about the yeast - probably thrush. There are medications that will help. In the meantime, though, probiotics are AS IMPORTANT as the antibiotics!! Yeast can happen all through your body and present symptoms very similar to Lyme.

Acidophilis should be taken at least 2hrs before abx's if taking Bcomplex or other vitamins or minerals at least 6hrs after abx's so as not to bind to them. I can get away with 1or2 acidophilis pills a day now before when on high doses combined doses abx's at around 5000to6000mgs had to take it 2hrs before and I was taking 2to3 at a time 3 times a day. Yeast will take off fast when on abx's.Sometimes you just have to go by trial and error if your getting yeast problems up the acidophilis.Talk to your llmd.

Yes, I agree. You need to take a QUALITY probiotic (atleast 2 hours away from abx) with high amounts of live bacteria as well as a multitude of different ones. Not just Acidophilus. You need both the GOOD and the BAD bacteria. Abx will wipe EVERYTHING out and you need to replace them all. I also agree that you will not find any such product anywhere else but a health food store.

A big point to remember is something that my ND/herbalist told me.....people are under the misunderstanding that you can have JUST thrush or JUST a vaginal yeast infection. When infact, if you have an appearance of any kind, that 99.9% of the time it is systemic. Meaning that it is EVERYWHERE. If it found its way to your mouth or anywhere else for that matter, it had to "travel" or "spread" It's not just in one place. I assure you.

Remember that you didn't just get thrush from the abx for Lyme. You've probably been tinkering on Candida disaster for years and these recent abx just put you over the top.

We have all taken abx over the course of our lives and were never told to replace the bacteria in our digestive track. We've all eaten sugar and we've all endured stress.

I have posted several lists of Candida symptoms here on Lymenet. If you do a search, you will find them.

I personally was in complete denial about Candida until I did a TON of research on it. I discovered that the majority of my "Lyme" symptoms were in fact Candida. I never had thrush or any other obvious symptoms. Mine were being mistaken for Lyme symptoms.

We have been off abx for almost 8 month and since addressing the Candida, we are doing quite well.

Just food for thought.
