I had the thickest hair imaginable, but over the course of the past 8 months I have lost about half of the volume of my hair. For about 3 months last year it was coming out in handfulls when I washed or combed it. It is still thinning and I am really concerned if I go through another round of hair loss I'll have nothing left. Has anyone used rogaine or any other hair restorer and has it helped to regrow your hair? Any Ideas on supplements or anything to take to keep it from falling out?

It is quite common after anesthesia to lose your hair. Also certain meds.& Immune disorders,Stress, etc.

1 thing I found to help was Cod liver oil. It is known for many yrs. to help people with helthy, thickening & shinier hair. Books on this from way back when.

This lady I took care of it swore by it for her skin, hair etc. She was 94 with most gorgeous beautiful head of hair.

After she died since she kept pushing it I started loosing my hair. Had alot going on & sick & lot losses.

So I finally tryed it. My hair grows & comes in thicker than ever.

I do not take it from liquid form but capsule. She gave me big book on all it doe`s. Old fashion remedies. She said liguid only, I use the capsule.

Just becareful not to overdo.

Vit A is one of the few we store. Can do damage if over done. So I always pulse it or take a break.

Good Luck....

My daughter had a lot of hair loss.. It has since stopped. I wish I knew what caused it but I am sure the disease and stress has a lot to do with it. Maybe some of the meds contribute. We were told to get some good vitamins. One Dr. recommended Daily Complete, for overall health and stamina.

Hello,

It is a very common symptom. It can happen because of Lyme or drugs that you may be on.

My LLMD told me in all his practice of many, many, years of treating LD patients, that he has yet to have anyone go bald because of this symptom.

If you would like to read about with others have said and, some have obesssed on this subject and feeling down as they believe they are loosing all their hair, then, I'd suggest you do a search of the posts on this subject. Use the keyword, "hairloss" in the Topic only.

You'll get the information you need in those past posts.

You may want to even check out, on your search, the General Forum, for there has much discussion there, also.

If you need to learn how to search, Dan has provided a step-by-step instructions on how to do it:

I hope this helps. In my experience, I've had three bouts with loosing my hair in clumps, but, as yet, I don't even have a spot that you can tell that I ever had hairloss. For me, this symptom has been, both, on and off antibiotics. Makes no difference.

Another good product is Ultra Hair by Source Naturals. It contains many of the B Vitamins as well as Biotin.

When used to go to FM meetings. Many were losing their hair. Not on any meds or antibiotics.

It was pretty common, as the sicker they became.

Prior to start of treatment I lost A lot of hair. You could easily tell after a shower or bath by looking at the drain, or just running your fingers throught your hair, lots would come out. This continued into the early months of treatment. After several months of treatment, the hair started to come back and still is. ( I am still on treament). It is also going from grey to black....

Here is good question, If IV abx where found to restore a mans hair, what do you think the probability of the treatment being universally accepted would be..

0% (like it is for really sick Lyme victims)
50%
or 100% (like it is for viagra and rogaine)

This world is so screwed up !@#$%.

I have had the hairloss problem for several years. Since I haven't been diagnosed with Lyme yet, I don't know if it's due to that or another problem. But mine has gotten so bad that I have very thin spots that have almost no hair and very noticeable.

One thing that has slowed down the hairloss somewhat is using Nioxin shampoo and scalp therapy. I can't afford the other Nioxin products that are supposed to help even more, but I do use those two and they've made a difference. From what I was told, Nioxin was originally made for people undergoing chemotherapy and that it helped reduce their hair loss. It's now widely available to the general public at hair salons.

I have used Nioxin in the past and it worked well.

I just started using it again. I take biotin and also se a product with Horsetail and Silica in it.

I have very fine and and cant afford to lose much more.

Lately, my hair has been fallng out like crazy, and I am devastated as my hair is very fine. So I got a hair cut that usually helps it look fuller, but didn't work this time, and I am getting freaked too.

Hopefully it will stop, I have had hair loss in the past, but this seems to be worse.

I lost some hair with lyme etc. Not sure whether due to disease itself or the drugs. I think it hasn't all grown back, but I dudn't worry much about it. Maybe I'll try some of that cod liver oil- are there any bad effects? how much should you take? (someone may have said something on that- hacen't read all of it- will go back and check...) Good luck, in any case!

I also have super-thick hair that falls out at the start of every relapse cycle. Also, I just found out my silver tooth fillings were dumping mercury into my system, and I have chronic mercury poisoning, which will cause hair to fall out.

Two great supplements are MSM sulfur and NAC.
