I have been taking rocephin via picc line for 25 days and I am beginning to see a change more energy less pain and such.
My insurance is saying they will not pay for it any longer. But then when I asked them if I went back on oral abx if they would pay they said "well haven't you tried those and they failed already" I just wonder what they want me to do die?
I could understand quitting to rocephin if it wasn't working but it is HELPING me so much! I went from Friday to Sunday last week with NO pain medication at all no patch no pills no nothing and I haven't been able to do that in over 6 months.

Now I am in the middle of a herx and it seems everything is hurting and nothing is helping but I know when this time is over I will see an improvement somewhere that will show me the rocephin is working more.

The meds and all the preperation stuff for my picc line and rocephin is only 400 a week but considering I am not working and money is kind of tight it is hard for us to have that kind of money right now.

I can go through the appeal process but that could take anywhere from 1 to 3 months and I can't wait that long before I start take the rocephin again. So I am putting it on a credit card which I really hate to have a balance on.
Any suggestions or paper work that would support me taking long term rocephin which long term means until December my doctor wanted me to take it for 4 months. since it is working so well and oral abx have never worked for me?
I need some help to get my appeal ready so I can continue to use the medicine that is helping me more than anything else I have tried?
any suggestions will be helpful,
Thanks,
Stacie

Hi Stacie,

I'm sorry your insurance is giving you a hard time, insurance companies really stink!
Here is link about Free Meds by Tincup, maybe this will help.

I'm glad the IV is working for you and you are feeling better, hang in there.

Stacie,

I can't comment on the legalities of your state, but considering what you have said, I know that I would contact an attorney.

Just my two cents....

Paul
