Is there any one out there taking Plaquinol (spelling?) with another abx? My doctor has me on 200mg Plaq. twice a day, 200mg Doxycycline twice a day, and 500mgs Biaxin twice a day plus cat's claw twice a day.
Starting a week into treatment, I started to feel burned up whenever I went outside of my house. My nose is now very red, just the end of it, and peeling. Feels like a sun burn, but I haven't been in the sun! I saw my doc and he told me to cut back on the Plaq. That stuff has some nasty side effects. I don't know what's happening to me the past few days but I cry all the time! Ever since the nose started to hurt, but not because of it.....depression? I am only two weeks into treatment.
Can anyone help? I am a single mom with 3 kids and losing my mind over this! I haven't been able to eat either...everything makes me gag, and the inside of my mouth has little like cuts in it, and the corners of my mouth have split too and it is so painful to open my mouth to even brush my teeth! I wonder if I would be better off not being on any medication anymore...this stinks.

doxycycline is sun sensative, not plaquenil. worsening of the skin or rash is a rare side effect to plaquenil though.

you can read more about plaquenil at the following link :

the plaquenil surely packs a punch. i started it 2 weeks ago (concurrent with biaxin) and had a heavy herx reaction all through the second week.

i haven't been gagging on my food but i have had a decreased appetite and haven't been eating nearly as much per meal. my tastebuds are also not as tasty as usual.

the cuts in your mouth may be an immune response, they are considered indicative of a suppressed immune system.

i have been bothered in the past with cankersores and mouth cuts myself, especially when very very run down.

your'e on a very good combo; one which addresses lyme, autoimmune illness (triggered by lyme), cyst form lyme, and possible erichliosis and babesia co-infections.

it will take at least a month to see some good, benevolent results. stick with it!

Thank you for your help, I won't stop the Plaquinol then? Perhaps the sun burned my nose from when I drive to and from work and it is bright out? It is where it would reflect from my sun glasses....just the ball of my nose, you know?
Did the Plaq. help you at all?
I hope this is a good combo cuz it is making me so sick!
Thank you zip zip...
