I'm just full of questions today...
Anyway, the last few days I've had the worst taste in my mouth. When I breathe in my mouth it's like my tongue is being drug across the bathroom floor at a movie theater.
I started Amoxicillin, 3000mg, about a week or so ago. Could this be it?

It could very well be the amox that is doing it. I get a horrible after taste with Biaxin.

Lenny,

Many pharmaceuticals cause a bitter taste or saltly taste or lessened taste and thus result in salt, or sugar cravings or a lot of seasoning in order to taste anything!

Then we get the candida overgrowth, bloating, fluid retention, wt. gain and etc., etc., etc.,

Water with lemon or lime (NOT lyme-excuse the pun I couldn't resist!)...helps to cut the taste. Adding more salt or more sugar or more spices can sabotage us if we aren't careful.

From what I read on this forum this is a common occurrance. Those on psychiatric drugs will tell you that this is something they deal with also. So try to use chlorophyll tabs or chlorella for odor and natural peppermint for the bad taste. It is available with a minimum of sugar. Most gum and breath mints etc have artificial sweeteners. Xylitol gum is recommended by several. I personally have not tried it.

P.S. After posting my "bright ideas" I saw a similar thread in which Tincup gives some good advice re: vinegar water...check it out http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/028350.html

One of those dollar movie places. I would say 50 cent places but I don't think they have those.

Thanks for the info.

Well Lenny,
Your imagery just about did me in for the day - ewwwwwww!!!!

I had a horrible metallic taste in my mouth while taking tinidazole and biaxin - drove me crazy. Can't quite come up with as creative a picture as you, but I can relate to the unpleasantness. Eventually it did go away.

For me, I found that mouth wash or mints made the taste worse! It funked it up. I just kept drinking water. I think the lemon or lime options would be good.
Hang in there, potty mouth!

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I didn't mean to make anyone sick.

I heard pickles will do the trick (especially if they are home grown and canned or should I say pickled) and not the sweet ones. My mother in law makes awesome ones-they are home grown etc... But I honestly haven't tried the pickle thing. How about any of you out there?

Hi,

If I were a betting girl, I would say its the abx. When I started Biaxin I had an awful metal taste in my mouth..it was horrible.

The only thing I found to work, was to drink a few sips of orange juice after taking my meds..it worked great.

Someone else told me to rinse with lemon water, but the OJ worked better for me

Best wishes!
