Zithro is supposed to be taken on an empty stomach, right? Although my appetite is lacking, I found that I forgot to take my second dose at least 3x already.
Problem is I fall asleep before my dinner digests. I guess I need to take it beforehand, but how many hours before or after qualify as being an empty stomach? Or does it really matter and safe to say I can take it with meals and it'd still be effective?
While you're here...
I feel a nasty cold coming on (too bad abx don't fend off those germs too). Is there anything antihistimine-wise that's NOT safe to take?
TIA!
Barb
I went through the same thing as you but then I figured out that they don't have to be taken together literally. Duh!!! I think I took two months to have that brain storm
As far as the fat, I ate a tablespoon of peanut butter or a piece of cheese. With the Zith, I would take it an hour before meals. You can also take it 2 hours after and be safe.
Enjoy that neon road paint

Not a good idea?
Never thought about it - doc said it was okay to take them that way!
As for the fatty food issue - did the same as Lyma Bean plus, I bought some of those precooked sausage patties and would heat one up to take w/ the med.

, I'm not being too effective!
I was supposed to tak 1 Zith pill a day, and 1 tsp Mepron tid.
The Zith pill was the first thing I put into my mouth every morning right after I woke up.
Then by the time I had cleaned up, put clothes on and done the bathroom thing, almost an hour had passed. Perfect!
Then I ate bf, and had the first 1/2 dose of Mepron right thereafter. At this point, I'd also pop the Magnesiums, which need up to 12 hours to get absorped.
The last 1/2 Mepron I'd then take right after supper.

The zithromax should be taken WITH FOOD! If you read the little info packet from the pharmacy studies conducted by the manufacterer shows that it significantly increases the absorbtion into the body. It also helps not to upset your stomach.
Just finished this regimen.
Yes. Take zith with food. I wouldn't have survived if I didn't take it with my dinner. It was very hard on my stomach.
The mepron should be taken with as much fat as possible. I ate a minimum of 10 grams with each dose. Whole milk, peanut butter, cheese, EFA's, etc. Never gained weight until after finishing my last bottle. I'm still "hooked" on fatty foods.
I did very well on just mepron and zith. Added in ceftin after 6 weeks and went downhill. LLMD says that I had a "good reaction to the ceftin in July."
Still on Ceftin, now adding Ketek.
Good luck,
Corgilla
