I have been on Doxy for 6 weeks and getting ready to change to ceftin.
Could it be a herx sympton? I have an appt. with the reg Dr. tomorrow but just need to hear if any of you have had anything like this.
Maybe I truly am a knothead!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Thanks everyone! Sue

Nothing really brought relief except Trigger Point Injections of Lidocaine. Others here say Prolotherapy more effective, but several rounds of trigger point injections cleared it up for me.

Been kicked by a mule recently?
Ho ho ho!
If KNOT...
Perhaps this is a muscle "splint".
I get them all the time.. very weird.
The splints are weird.. knot ME!

They may be muscles.. or muscle connection points... that spasm and make knots in those spots. They get "inflammed".. and turn sore around the area.. almost too sore to touch sometimes.
At first thought you won't THINK that is what they are.. but my bet is they are splints.
Feel at the base of your skull.. where the neck meets the skull and up a bit along the base of the skull.
Sore? Lumpy a bit perhaps?
They CAN get wicked... and painful.
Get a warmed heating pad... or stick some dried beans or dried rice in an old sock... and heat it in the microwave.
Place the heat on the spot.. wait a few seconds or so.. then see what happens.
Use heat also on the back of your neck to help relieve the muscle spasms... and along the jaws... and behind the ears.
Is your neck stiff at all? Hard to turn to either side?
Hope this helps.

Thanks to all!
Tincup,
Thanks so much for the humor I need that today! I didn't get kicked that I know of but with the memory I have it could have happened! Ha!
It felt like I had an infected hair follicle at 1st. Then I got another one and then I have this sore bump behing my right ear. I also have a sore ear and my head on that side is sore.
I go to the nurse practitioner tomorrow but she will probably not know what it is. Just want to make sure I don't have an ear infection or just a head infection!
That I do have
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will try the heat. I also went from taking 4 nystatin pills a day to 1 4xaday. Could this have any bearing on this??????????? I also have sore bumps on that side of my tongue!
Thnaks again all you fellow suffers!!!!!!!!!!!! hugs! Sue
"I also went from taking 4 nystatin pills a day to 1 4xaday."
Hmmmmmmmmmm..
Are you SURE you weren't accidently kicked in the head?
Or is it ME?
Ya got ME confused mighty mulelover.
I followed DR.c order and cut the nystatin to 1 4xday. Do ya think that could have a bearing on these sore bumps or is it my brains really leaking out!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hugs!& Shouts! Let's beat lymes!!!!!!!!! I am a frustrated cheerleader! LOL LOL
Sue
I am so embarrassed!!!!!!!!!!!!! He! He!
I am not officially responsible for my brain these days it's been lymied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hugs Sue
I was wondering if it was ME who was wacky.. or you.
Good to see it was YOU...
This time!

You said.. and this is probably the answer right here...
"...or is it my brains really leaking out"..

Ok... answers to the questions...
I really wish I knew what came first.. the chicken or the egg.
I don't know if the muscles get spasmed from infection damaging them directly and get their knickers in an uproar..
OR..
The nerves going to the muscles are damaged causing the sheath to be exposed.. causing pain.. which causes the muscles to spasm..
OR..
The toxins build up from the meds and/or die off and cause the muscles to spasm...
OR..
A lack of a mineral or some such thing is lacking in your body and that is causing the muscle spasms...
OR..
The cells are damaged and are unable to carry oxygen to the muscles.. causing the muscles to spasm..
OR..
Because there is a shortage of oxygen due to the damage, the muscle tissues are burning... causing a buildup of lactic acid.. making the muscles spasm..
OR..
A combo of all of the above makes the muscles freak out..
OR..
All of the above is wrong... and we won't know anytime soon what the heck is going on.
Whew..
Then it COULD be "inflammation".
Again go through the list above and add "inflammation" to the end of each scenerio.
Then.. we have MORE of the TC theories that have never been heard before...
The brain is malfunctioning (due to infection or inflammation).. causing the organs to be malfunctioning.. which is causing the hormones to be off.. causing the cells not to properly function.. which is causing the oxygen and chemicals to be off.. which causes any or all of the above listed situations.
Now.. you wanted to know if the change in Nystatin is doing this.
Heck if I know!
But my guess is no.
Then..
Could it be...
The infection is the brain or surrounding layers are causing inflammation.. which causes fluid buildup and/or pressure.. which mashes nerves.. which causes the muscles to try and protect the brain by spasming hard over that entire thin layer that covers the skull.. .. which causes the lumps, bumps, and soreness.
OR...
Could the infection/inflammation/toxins be causing the brain to retain fluid and we get what is called "water on the brain"... which then puffs up lumps on the head?
I notice the ears.. especially behind them.. is a common spot for these bumps. The spinal fluid has an easier chance of "breaking through" in those areas where the tissue is thinner. In other words.. is the sack of fluid "leaking"?
Or.. is the pressure so great from inflammation and infection that the brain fluid squeezes through.. causing lumps?
Actually.. I could go on and on.
I have put MUCH thought into all of this because it is what happens to me all the time. I figure if I can pin point the cause.. maybe I could stop it from happening?
You can see by the PARTIAL list above... I have a long way to go to find the cause and cure.
Then.. in all likely hood.. it is just a symptom of Babesiosis.
I will keep working on it.
Or...
As Jackieu said (good thought).. could it be lymph nodes swelling?
Oh good grief..
Now I have a headache from all this thinking!
Are ya happy you done did that, toad face? Or was that MULElover?

Thanks for all of that info.
I went to Dr. I have a bad sinus infection with my sinus completely plugged!
At least that is what she thinks. My whole side of my head hurts like crazy and even my neck on that side! Whine Whine@
Good thing is I just swithced to ceftin and she said that would take care of this too. I sure hope so.. Sorry I missed the party that is a bummer!
