I am in Canada, and see a LYME MD, waiting for the Western Blot to get done...

but am thinking of an idea.

I am not an easy patient to get well, and do like my LYME MD here, but know that he has trouble with me, getting me well.

I dont want to travel to the USA if I dont have to, and also not well, as have the MCS and reacting to the air outside....

So, was thinking to do a phone consult... have my LYME MD do a phone consult with another LYME MD that has had people like me, the breathing...

OR possibly I myself do a phone consult with another LYME MD that has been around longer then my LYME MD here in Canada.

Do any LYME MD's do phone consults?

Possibly they would know something my DR does not... after hearing my history.

thanks,

Trish

Could you ask your llmd to consult with one of our ILADS doctors to get some ideas on treatment for you?

If he's concerned about your problems, I'll bet he'd welcome some feedback from another doctor in the trenches, so to speak! www.ilads.org

Good luck!

I would be very surprised if you could find a LLMD who would do a phone consult with the patient as a first appointment.

There are a few LLMD's who will do phone consults for follow-up appointments.

In the U.S. most insurance companies will not pay anything on phone appointments, but patients are willing to pay the entire cost themselves because they don't have the extra expense of travel and all the added hassles.

My husband is in the process of changing LLMD's because we needed a doctor who would do phone consultations for follow-up appointments. Steve's new doctor will be Dr. C in Missouri.

Just had my first visit with Dr. C. this morning. My opinion......I made an excellent choice of Dr.s. He will do phone consultation for the next 12 months at which time I am to go back in. It's certainly not all about the money with him.

I think he has a geniune concern about his patients and their well being. I do think any of the Dr.s here will probably require a first visit to be in person. So sorry about this.

Good luck to you and God Bless You,

Pam

Dr. C (of MO) really likes talking to other physicians and educating them. So, I'd, at least, give him a try.

You can get his contact 411 @: www.drcharlescrist.com

But, a much better choice would be for you to try and get down to see him...he knows that the majority of his patients travel great distances to see him and he really trys to work around that.

Then, he probably would not have (I'm speaking from the experiences of my family) you return for another 6 months. And, if you need another appt between then, he'll do phone appointments with you.

Some patients of his only go see him once per year and followup between times with phone appointments.

But, like I said above, he will probably work with your current MD...but, that doc has to be willing to call him, and, I assume that he will by what you posted above.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Health,

We see Dr C. in MO and I just did a phone consult with him last week because of my daughter.

She had a w/b done in his office in Oct but he did not see her, he only saw me and my oldest son. Her w/b came back post. and we needed to start meds.

When he called last week he could not prescribe her abx because he did not see her. BUT he did set up a time to talk to her ped. and they talked are should I say Dr C talked and the ped listened and wrote.

My ped. will do all her abx (like Dr C told him) until we see Dr C. in December. He is VERY willing to work with other Dr.s.

Hope this helps and you find someone to work with you.

Starr
