I saw my LLMD thursday after trying 1500mg of Cefzil per day for a month--it did nothing and I just gradually got worse as before. My LLMD switched me to something like 1750mg twice a day of amoxicillin with 500mg of zithromax once a day (at night)...still following my course of probiotics, bromelain, and nutritional supplements.
Is this generally an effective treatment? I've heard good things about zithromax for effectiveness, but bad things for herxing (I didn't herx on Cefzil). I've also heard it can be a lot more effective to combine two types of abx--is this also true?
Thanks for any info.

I don't think the medicine itself needs to be taken at night or in the morning, its more of a specific thing to my lifestyle...sorry for the confusion Patti!
I should have also mentioned that I'm taking both the zithromax and amoxicillin orally.

I started out on 1000mg Biaxin taken with 400mg Plaquinil for 1 1/2 yrs, then relapsed. Stayed on that dose of Biaxin and Plaquinil and LLMD added in Amoxy, starting dose of 1500mg. That was the beginning of my turning around.
We gradually increased Amoxy in 500mg increments, and with every additional 500mg more symptoms decreased/disappeared. I am still on this "combo" and have been for about a year and a half now. (Now on 5500mg Amoxy!!!!) I am currently doing very well, indeed, and hope to start to decrease meds this Spring.
To me, it proves that taking two dissimilar antibiotics together does help alot of people.
Hope this helps.
