Hi Everyone,

I wanted to ask if anyone has had problems with their old liver before abx treatment.
My symptoms started with right side pain and I have had high liver counts for close to three years. Diagnosed a few weeks ago w/ lyme. This led docs on a wild symptom chase. I seem to always have burning and aches. Sometimes eating and my doxy makes it worse.

Just wondering if anybody has had the same experience?

My son had high liver enzymes before starting Lyme treatment. For him, it turns out to be caused by hemochromatosis, an iron overload disorder. It can cause many of the same symptoms as Lyme, and is implicated in liver problems.

The test for this is very simple. Serum ferritin and transferrin saturation percentage, done by blood tests. Treatment is also simple, compared to Lyme treatment. You have pints of blood withdrawn till the iron storage levels go down.

And, of course, it is perfectly possible to have both Lyme and hemochromatosis, as my son does.

I've had extreme pain in stomach for years; dx w/lyme 5 months ago...misdx for 34 yrs.

Hi there....hemachromatosis sp? is well documented in brucellosis (co-infection).
There seems to be a problem catching on to this aspect of lyme.
