I'm looking on ebay for a port. sauna system. Can anyone recommend a good one? Let me know. I need to sweat out some of these herxes
Thx,
Dave
Anybody else got any ideas??
Thx,
Dave
I probably wont get it set up for a few day but I will definately let you know how it goes and what I think of the cheapy model I bought.
I got a good deal apparently. It was listed at $99 when I bid on it. I was the only bidder last Sunday night and he wrote back that it was mine even tho he made a mistake and it was suppose to be $199.
I take that as a good sign that this is a road Im suppose to take.
Im seriously thinking about converting it to an ozone therapy but am a little scared so am easing into just the sauna part first.
Right now my brain is so non functioning I really question my ability to get the ozone thing together but I will take that as it comes.
As soon as I have it up and going I will let you know here or send you an email if your addy is listed. Anyway keep a watch for my post and I will be sure to watch to see if you see it.
I like the thought of cooking those little beasties.
I ordered one that is a soft sided and was concerned about toxic give off so called a nice guy at the EPA and talked at length with him and he said at temps low enoug to put my body in I was safe so I didnt feel the need to go up to expensive hard fiberglass models.
They go for around 2500 and thats a big price for something just to try.
And just for the record my symptoms have started to change almost hourly. Laughing one minute and crying the next.
If you want any additional info about the sauna just email me and I will give you the mans email address. He seems very honest and got an excellent rating on Ebay
It WORKS and Its great at removing toxins. I can say this, it has a small habit of burning the living heck out of the bottom of my calves, but it makes me sweat, so it works.
I bought mine on ebay last year.
Thanks for the info. Yeah, Sofy, let me know how you make out. It's a bummer up here in CT. with the weather. Hard to sweat anymore as I'm too sick to work out like I used to. You can email me anytime.
Thx,
Dave
PS: Merry Christmas to all!
< I am a worry wart aboout absorbing more toxins than Im giving off in the steam. I wont eat anything cooked in plastic or aluminum and certainly dont want to be absorbing the toxins they give off in the steam pot. The steam pot gets hot enough to give offf toxins where the wrap around tent doesnt, or so says the guy at the EPA that I talked too. He was funny when I told him I was thinking about doing the ozone therapy. He cautioned me and then asked me to let him know how it worked out. He was very interested
Bev Feldman, who posted the post about her and her daughters success with ozone sent me this info about converting to ozone. I think you can convert any to ozone. The steam sauna listed here is the same one I bought but is listed at 139 which is no longer at ebay. the sauna looks the same but is now 199. hope this helps OZONE THERAPY INSTRUCTIONS Basic Theory The basic theory is that ozone is antibacterial and antiviral consisting of an additional molecule of oxygen. In addition to the antibacterial effects of ozone, it is believed that the use of a sauna to increase body temperature has the potential of being additionally antibacterial due to the borrelia's susceptibility to higher temperatures. The elevation of body temperature is thought to induce an artificial fever thus replicating the bodies natural mechanism to illness. The key to potential success of antibacterial processes is the exposure of the bacteria to oxygen & heat. It is believed that the sauna will open up the pores to ozone absorption which when combined with the heat environment will attack the bacteria. Relatively new to the this approach process is the creation of medical-grade ozone feed into the sauna environment. This is accomplished through feeding pure oxygen to the ozone maker, which then increases the ozone concentration from approximately 300 mg/hour to 700 mg/hour over ambient air feed. The mechanism to feed pure oxygen is an oxygen concentrator or oxygen tank. Concentrators can be purchased on Ebay, where other sources of oxygen require a prescription. All components for this ozone sauna are available on E-Bay or internet vendors for a total estimated cost of approximately $500-$600. Parts The following are the list of necessary components Oxygen Concentrator Steam Sauna Ozonator Fan Tubing Radio Shack Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer Oxygen Concentrator The search for an oxygen concentrator led me to Ebay where I purchased a Mobil-aire V with oxygen sensor. This cost $199 plus $45 for shipping. I had previously purchased a much more expensive concentrator but I tested the outflow against a match to determine if a brighter flame existed. The o2 should produce a brighter flame. My original machine did not produce a brighter flame so I concluded that no oxygen was being produced. I also went through two machines with the E-bay company because the first while producing significant oxygen had been used in a smoke environment, which produced bad smelling air. It is important to specify that the unit will be used indoors and requires a clean unit. I prefer a unit with an O2 sensor to prove oxygen is coming out Steam Sauna The steam sauna component can be purchased from E-bay for $139 plus shipping. Just put in search word ``steam sauna''. This is one looks pretty good because of the temperature control and stainless steel steam bucket. Did have one negative comment in E-bay feedback. Another source for this sauna that does not have the stainless steel is http://www.naturalhealthway.com Here is another alternative. Still another lead that has the right steam pot but is twice as expensive. A very expensive alternative would be a specifically designed steam cabinet such as the one pictured. http://www.storesonline.com/site/oxygenspasuperstore This of course would be the fail-safe set up because it has an ozone feed and many features. It is also cost prohibitive and potentially unnecessary at $2,500. This however may be good for a clinical setting. The sauna can reach 150 degrees in 30 minutes, which is to hot without a temperature control so caution is advised. Ozone Generator Welcome to the world of ambiguities and broad price ranges. The prices range from $59-$1500. The claims of distinction center around quality of ozone produced, whether a unit produces nitrogen oxide, and whether the internal parts are ozone resistant. Further discussion on the method of ozone production is involved. The production of nitrogen oxide was my big concern and I do wish to discuss. The supplier indicates that if the ozone generator is fed with pure oxygen it cannot produce nitrogen oxide Regardless of the machine that is purchased it requires the ability to input from the oxygen concentrator and output to the sauna tent or sauna cabinet. I settled on the following because it is out of the box ready without modification to provide the two feeds. The outstanding question is its durability and quality of ozone produced. The other controversy is whether the internal components are ozone proof as to not produce contaminated ozone. This is in the theoretical zone and I have no way to confirm other than an email response from the unit distributor that I am using says there units are OK. If results indicated by the California family are not replicated, I will move to the ozonator they use. The scientist that helped them design their unit is excited about the unit below because it requires no modification. Fan Any fan can be used to blow on the face of the participant. This cools down the person allowing more sustained use while additionally blowing any ozone that might seep out away from breathing. Tubing The ideal here is to find ozone resistant tubing such as silicone or Teflon. This has proven to be a challenge so I am using that which was sent with the ozone machine. I will continue to pursue obtain tubing that fits both the output of the oxygen concentrator and the input of the ozonator. Thermometer The thermometer is used to measure the internal temperature of the sauna to aid in individual tolerance of temperature. Finding a sauna with a High/Low setting on the steam pot would be a better solution. Setting Up the Equipment Notes: Set the oxygen concentrator level as low as possible so that produced ozone is not diluted with oxygen. This is a dial on most generators that can be turned down. Ideal range is .25-.50. Test the tube running from the concentrator in a glass of water to make sure adequate lowest flow setting that produces output. Make sure oxygen sensor light eventually turns on to prove oxygen production Test concentrator the first time you get it with match watching for brighter burn. Run hose from ozonator into sauna through neck or arm hole. Place towel around neck so that ozone does not leak for inhaling or dilution of that which is in the chamber Specific Procedures Used By Successful Patient Patient uses her unit outdoors, which is the best ventilation. In colder climates I believe we should do everything we can for ventilation including the fan and opening windows. I have found you don't smell the ozone until you open the tent and then it is strong. As a consequence start the ozone feed after the person is in the tent sealed up and steam and heat production have begun. It might be a good idea to have the patient enter the tent and then start the steam generation. This allows the body temperature to work up to the heat more gently. Our first use was body shock and possible skin sensitivity to the blast of heat. Next time we will do this gradual build-up. Obtain thermometer from Radio Shack to measure inside temperature of sauna. At the heat the patient can most tolerate, begin the ozone feed. Work up to tolerance or length in the sauna. The ultimate objective is 15-30 minutes but if the patient gets scared away to quick there will not be compliance. Successful case uses sauna everyday for 15 minutes. While no specific time of day was indicated, successful case prefers evening because results help sleep quality. Shower after the sauna but do not use soap. With pores open from sauna and ozone absorption the use of soap could get into the pores causing irritation. Other Considerations: Liver de-toxification program may be considered to flush objectives of sauna Successful case indicated she believed it worked better when patient was not using antibiotics. This of course remains to be proved Open Questions and Concerns Is ozone generator selected the proper piece for concentration and purity. Is there a better tent or should we consider sauna cabinet What is the proper ventilation with the ozone sensitivity to inhalation? What should be the timeline for liver detox, (before your start the procedure, during or after) What would be a good de-tox agent, i.e. Phosphatydlcholine, ``Better than Greens Drink''. Some people have indicated that an ozone rash may occur representing detoxification. Methods for preventing this including detoxification programs need to be discussed. I would like to discuss whether this is considered of any danger. What are sauna considerations for people with high or low blood pressure What are sauna considerations for people with heart conditions? I have now assembled the necessary pieces to begin implementation of the ozone sauna therapy that a few lyme patients claim ``significant benefit''. The following is based on with the family that is using it successfully with their daughter.
