Hi all,

I am on mepron, biaxin, plaquenil, voltaren, also milk thistle and a lotta acidophilus.

apart from this hopefully knocking out the babesia, will it also make me impervious to colds and flu this year, and, if there are other little critters along with the babs there, will this cocktail knock it out or will I need to go on other stuff (my doc thinks I have lyme, but it isn't showing positive yet, but she said the babs can "hide" it. she seems to think it is lurking... and we will unearth it.)

side effect - I have a small zit on my cheek - a bump really. but my lower cheeks are slightly flushed too. this just popped up today. I am in week 3 of the meds now. is this a side effect of any of the above?

I had some minor acne a few years ago and I was on minocin and it cleared it up. would low level minocin (100mg a day) have helped out with the babs anyway, or not?

Hi there. You're not on any antivirals, so you have no protection from flu or other illnesses caused by viruses. There are some anti viral meds especially for flu -- reduces the time of illness, but doesn't prevent the flu. I did get the flu this year whilst on a protocol similar to yours, but it really wasn't bad this time for me. I took monolaurin and lots of garlic, which I think helped.

Minocin alone won't address babesia, which is a pyroplasm and is quite different from many other pathogenic other bacteria. The tx you are on is not a typical protocol for bartonella, either. For my husband, bartonella tx (Levaquin, then Septra and samento) was added 6 months into the babs/LD tx.

You might want to consider adding in the artemisinin for babs -- we found it to be very effective on the babs. Suggest you talk to your doc first, though. That's quite a bit of work for your liver to do, although the milk thistle should help. My doc also likes us to do the olive oil/lemon juice liver cleanse at least once a month.

Happy holidays, sounds like you have a good LLMD.
