I only took a fraction of the herbs he suggested to take out of concern of herx, and boy was I right. It was similar to what I get from antibiotics, the fatigue, headache, slightly sick stomach, and the occassional itch... but x10. Very impressed by how effective these seem to be. I'll up my dose eventually, but all 3 nights I've taken the abbreviated dose I've had extreme fatigue. So I'll work my way up slowly. I'm still on Doxy, but that wasn't giving me much of a reaction at all.
He felt confident that, since it only seems to be effecting me in ways that are non-neural and aren't affecting my joints, that it'll be easier to cure.
His herbs are more expensive, because they are quality. There's no regulation in this market. I strongly believe it's a mistake to try his herbs for a little while and then switch to a less expensive alternative. Go by his protocol, and you should go by his tools. And that's what I will do. Although it's pricey, I can't put a price on getting better.
Here's to getting better...

A great point you've made about quality products for health purposes does cost more. That's a reason why I only purchase my products from www.podipatch.com instead of elsewhere. I had my share of healing crisis when I started my treatment but it worth every bit of it now because I finally having my quality life back.
AKG Naturals has their own herbalist creating their products like Dr Zhang does his own so that's important for me too. I've had treatments from chinese herbalist like Dr Zhang before so I'm familiar with it.
So keep on going and good luck with yours.
Since starting the herbs, I've had that smell very strong 1-3 hours after taking them. I wonder if this is lyme or candida being erradicated from my sinuses?
I thought I was being sensative to the herbs before but now you might be right about the dying down. The smell was quite unpleasant for me.
I'm curious if anyone know what's that all about. Hmmmm
I've just started on a new product and it's awesome. I feel great only after 4 days taking it. This herb is a blood purifier, liver & kidney cleanse, lymphatic, skin, digestive and laxatant. Its purpose is to strengthen organs function which are responsible for the cleansing of body tissues via blood cleanse and lymphatic activities. This make sense to me.
There are so much info and ideas out there for all of us to learn and then to apply. However, it is very important to spend our money on the right products with highest quality, otherwise, it still does not work as good.
Like you I believe in spending more for quality because, for example, if it takes only 3 months to get better for higher cost or 6 - 9 months for cheaper brands if these products even works.
I'm interested in knowing how you progress with Dr Zhang. So please keep posting.
BTW, the smell eventually disappear for me so let's see how yours turn out.
Same good response here!
He put about 20 needles in me and they were painful. My muscles even began to spasm.
He said this was the chi moving around.
He also said that it would take some time.
Well all I have is time. But seriouslly it was too much money and too much pain. I didnt feel any different.
I was quite dissapointed. I will be looking for another accupuncturist.
Two of the needles were uncomfortable for me, but the rest I could not feel.
Let me know how you do with the new acupuncturists. As far as insurance, even before I had lyme I realized that to get anything done properly outside the bureaucracy of insurance companies and modern medicine, it would have to come out of my own pocket. It's unfortunate.

Then he started to twist them as I screamed. Very painfull. The ones that he put in my ears parylized my face. I couldnt open my jaw and my left ear hurt where he put the needle in for a week.
I just think he should have been a bit more conservative at first.
What was your experience with the herbs?
[This message has been edited by diskobox (edited 28 December 2004).]
I was faithfull with them and have had some positive experience with herbs. But not these.
One of them smelled so bad.
I looked it up on the net and found that it was bile of ox, goat, and pig.
I was drinking animal vomit. I had to sweeten it just to get it down.
yet none of the practitioners really seemed to help.
6 months of taking his herbs and seeing him once a month did nothing for me long term, unfortunately.
i was on IV rocephin just prior and while doing his herbs and made good progress but when I went off the IV the progress was lost.
a month later i figured the herbs weren't doing anything on their own accord (though i was taking oral abx concurrently) because i kept sliding back.
his success rate is very moderate for lyme, his speciality is in hepatitis.
and it's not the cheapest thing. i think my breath still stinks from his garlic. not that raw herbs are that cheap either, nor are they very benign.
i have a bunch of his herbs if any wants them at discount price, their just collecting dust in a box right now.

I did almost 3 years of chinese herbal brew which helped, but then nothing more after that. Every 10 days I left the place it costs me about $300 for everything I need, but I did it because these herbs were the only thing helps somewhat. I'd discovered meds do not mix well with chinese herbal that's why I stopped the meds since I've never care for them anyway. Alternative and natural treatments are what I want.
But then with chinese herbal brew I have to slow cook them 3 times a day so I spent all my time preparing them and I got tired of it. Plus it tastes nasty so eventually it kept coming back up instead of staying in my system.
My current treatment is still herbal but it comes in capsules so I take so many every meal and it works great so no complaint. Also these products passed FDA requirements when they are capsulated by a certified lab so it's safer.
I still do my 1 clove of fresh crushed organic garlic with a tablespoon of raw honey once a week. I get use to the garlic smell especially it's good for me so I ok with it.
There are so many products out there so you just have to choose which one works best for you and be patience. Alternative takes longer, but the outcome is better, in my opinion. Eastern medicine is to treat inside out and western medicine is treating the outside appearance only but then suppressing the internal symptoms. I'd rather have the bugs out.
His primary symptoms were and still are nausea/vomiting/dry heaves and tremors/myoclonus/seizure-like episodes.
His tremors were pretty much 24/7 at the time and that was before his symptoms became more episodic and resembled seizures.
While he was lying on the exam table with the accupuncture needles in his shaking would usually totally stop, but as soon as the needles came out and he moved to get up the tremors would come back sometimes even worse than before the accupuncture treatment.
Every time he saw Steve even when he didn't have an appointment the accupuncture doctor wanted to stick a needle in my husband's head !!!
By accident I discovered an accupressure point on the back of my husband's left shoulderblade that I could press on to make his left arm stop shaking. However if I did it too frequently he would pass out unconscious!!!
To me this was proof that my husband's symptoms were not psychiatric as all the doctor's were saying but that there was something wrong with his brain or nervous system.
We stopped going for accupuncture because at the time my husband was not having any pain which is what I have always read that accupuncture is most effective for.
This accupuncturist was a Chinese immigrant and he brewed up his own herbal tea for each patient based on their symptoms.
My husband drank a gallon of the tea per week and it did help with his G.I. symptoms after he had first been treated for giardia and several other intestinal parasites. The main ingredient according to a gastroenterologist in the same city was Rhubarb.
Fulfillment09 -- What is the new product you started ?
LymeHerx101 -- Ox bile in capsules is often used by people who have gallbladder symptoms. There is actually a prescription form called Actigall I think which is supposed to dissolve gallstones.

The LLMD in westport CT said go to him he is good. I told him my terrible experience,, he laughed and said that accupuncture shouldnt hurt.
I also told him that Zhang was in norwalk so maybee this is who the Doctor was thinking about?
Anyway, Im leaning toward accupuncture since my ENT doc recomended it.
Its just too bad I cant get the insurrence to pick it up.

Your llmd was probably talking about Zhang in NYC. He's fairly well-known for integrating chinese medicine for treatment of hepatitis and lyme.
