Hi!
I have had some improvement lately in some of my symptoms.I am 5 months into IV rocephin three times a week.

Lately though I have developed this awful tiredness and heaviness in my muscles. It is as though I have done a marathon all the time. The muscles in my legs are tender as though they are bruised.

I had this off and on at other times but now it has become constant. It is strange that some symptoms are improving while this is getting worse.

I am starting to worry I have MS or Motor Neurone disease.

Anyone else experienced this??

Input much appreciated.

Sue from Downunder.

Sue:

I don't think it is too uncommon. I remember feeling great on Rocephin for awhile and then I became very tired and achey a few months into it. It did come and go. I wasn't on it for more than 4 months at a time so, I can't remember if I felt better after that. My MD switched me to other meds.

Since you are doing it 3x per week, are you doing the IM or the IV? If it is IM, I think the muscle heaviness is common. I got that a few months into IM Bicillin. Theose bog needles and the goo coursing through your muscles can cause some weakness and heaviness in the muscles. That has actually gotten better after 5+ months.

I do alot of stretching and yoga to help keep my muscles from tensing up. My nurse reminds me to keep my muscles as relaxed as possible, especially during injections.

Hi Sue,

That's how my symptoms started and then it gets worse. My whole legs (knees, calves, ankles, and feet) were so painful I could not walk.

I've been using Podi Patch with great success, www.podipatch.com , so why don't you give it a try. Email me if you want more personal insight about the product since I've been using it since August. If this is what you want to do.

Do something before it gets worse.

Hi Sue,

Sorry you're having muscle heaviness & tiredness.

I'm just brainstorming here, but I was wondering if it's due to a tick-borne co-infection. I don't know which one would cause that. All the symptoms overlap so.

Sometimes after treating LD for a while, the co-infections start to raise their ugly heads. Treating LD is like peeling the layers off an onion.

You get one thing fixed and something else appears.

That's what happened to me with Babesia. I developed shortness of breath-----just out of the blue. Anyway, he did treat me with 2 Bottles of Mepron, but still I may need more. We'll see.

Hope your Doctor can help because it does sound severe.

In the meantime, I know Magnesium Malate (Source Natural Brand) is known to be good for muscle aches; or if you just had some Magnesium Citrate that should help, too.

Hope others will visit with some more ideas because I realize you want to know the root cause of this.

Let us know what you find out.

Take Care,
Jan
