Ok so I am still feeling old symptoms coming back and/or getting worse. I haven't been off abx at all.........I never got to remision and now I am going backwards.

I have been in this backwards slide 3+ weeks now...........is this just treatment?
Is it just the ups and downs? Or is this something serious?

On Tueday I switched from Mepron to Doxy ( I always do doxy on my one week a month off of mepron). I though maybe it was the Mepron (3rd bottle) that was making me feel bad. But don't feel any better on the doxy.

Can someone tell me if this is just how treatment goes or do I need to change meds or something?

I am in my 8th month of treatment. Had lyme 5 months prior to treatment. I didn't have a long term infection like many others.

Help I am losing it...........

robi... you have to chill babe.

every other day you say you are say you are losing it. you have made good gains. lyme is a waxing and waning disease. stay the course.

if you don't keep your head how can your body follow in suit?

now have you had a complete immunological workup? sometimes the abx will only take you so far.

keep vigilant. you are your own best ally.

Robi,

I dont know, but this doesn't sound too abnormal to me. As I wrote to you on the other thread, I felt worse since starting treatment in July until last month, on Mepron and Biaxin.

Only at the end of November did I notice a positive change, which I believe is from the Mepron. I hope you do not give up on the Mepron prematurely.

Robi:

zipzip is right, you've got to chill. I know this is hard. But, it won't get any easier if you have so much anxiety. Anxiety causes stress and stress causes synptoms to flare.

I have been at this game for 21 months now and am 50% better. I used to complain all the time and would think I was dying every day at first. It has gotten better and that is what I have to look forward to now.

Your body is probably confused because of the Doxy/Mepron switch up. I haven't taken oral abx in months but my MD added Zithromax back into the mix a week ago. My stomach is doing somersaults (sp?) and I am having different herx symptoms already. I will deal with though because I think he is right about this.

You need to trust your body and your MD and try to "go with it". Get plenty of rest and drink lots of water. Take Klonipin or Valium if you can.

Yes, you're all right. ANXIETY is the name of the game for me right now. I am having a very hard time controlling it. (As you can see).

ZZ....how do I get an immunological workup? My LLMD hasn't suggested this.....If I went to an immunoogist wouldn't they just say I didn't have lyme?

DLL....I have been on Mepron 3 months....plan is for me o do three more if my liver #'s stay normal. I was considering calling my LLMD and seeing if maybe I should change to other abx..........but maybe I will just wait. I guess many do mepron for more than 3 months.

TP...Thanks for the words of encouragement........it's the downs that follow the good times that are the worst.....it makes me doubt my recovery.....trying to hold on.

BC.....thanks for the suggestions....maybe I should see about getting anxiety meds.

Also, yes, I need to drink more water. I used to drink 100 ozs a day....then I just got out of the habit.......I will work on that.

Sorry for the whining............guess when folks on lymenet tell you to stop whining you really gotta look at it ........ok ..... I get it...........

Chillin',

Good morning Robi,

So sorry that you are having a particularly difficult time with all of this. I think we have ALL experienced the questioning stage of ``am I ever going to get better?''

It is a normal reaction to the pain and stress of illness, so don't be too hard on yourself, OK?

I think the comment from Beachcomber is 100% accurate...
Anxiety does lead to stress, which leads to a flare in symptoms...
Which leads to more stress!

It is a vicious cycle that you really DON'T want to continue!
This is going to take time my dear. Try to resolve yourself to this fact, OK?

This made me laugh:

I know that we all have had our share of Whine and cheese parties here. Sometimes, just gaining validity from others that have been down the same road is the best medicine of all.

But, I honestly think that asking someone to just stop being anxious, is akin to asking them to just stop having freckles. Sometimes, it is just out of our control!

If anxiety really is eating you up...(and it seems as though it is)
DO ask your doc about something to help control it! There is no need to suffer with this unnecessarily, when there are meds that can reduce this symptom for you.

My beat,
Melanie

Hi Robi,

Hold on to yourself! We're all on the ride of our lives. One thing, and perhaps I've missed it, do you have any co-infection. I'm guessing because of the Mepron and Z that you are being treated for Babs.

I'm on the same thing. I'm 2 months or so in on Mepron and Z. The weeks I'm off of Mepron are awful. My LLMD confirmed yesterday that this is normal. Both my lyme symptoms and the Babs symptoms are intensifying. All this to say, that life is difficult with all this going on.

I have maybe a few hours at a time where I feel OK. The rest of the time I'm dealing with symptoms that suck! Never knowing from one day to the next how I will feel is very annoying for me.

Thinking of you and hope you feel better soon.

Ann

Hey Robi,
I feel your pain - I feel like I'm back peddling too and should be feeling better, but I'm not. Hang in there and I will too!

To top it off, my insurance company says they won't pay for my next 4 weeks of IV Rocephin - nice!

It's kind of hard to not have anxiety and stress under these conditions...eh?!
