Started Zith on Christmas Eve and I can't sleep. I'm kept awake by crawliness and constant high-pitched squealing or whistling noises in my head. Can you think of anything over-the-counter I could take to get some sleep?

Also vomiting from the Zith. Anyone else vomit as a herx? I get sick 5-10 minutes after I take it and I'm 99% certain it's not an allergy.

Thanks in advance.

dear biting back,
sorry to hear your feeling so crappy. i'm right there with you. herxing bad and as a bonus, I feel completely worthless.

What about benadryl to get you to sleep.

i'm on doxy. I've been on restoril (prescription) for sleep. It knocks me out every night and to be honest it is the only relief I get from this disease.

I have been vomiting as well. the only thing i've figured out is that I can't take it on an empty stomach. Also, I have anti-naseau meds for this because I can't afford to lose more weight.

Best of health in 2005
regards

Dear Paisley,

It is a comfort to know I'm not alone. Thank you for sharing with me.

I can't afford to lose any more weight, either. Food repulses me though. I'm not sure what to do about it though.

Benadryl. Hmmm. Hadn't thought of it, but it sounds like it might work. I'll have my husband pick some up today.

Thanks a million.

Thoughts of better health in 2005.

My doctor gave me 5-hydroxy-tryptophan.
It's all natural and it will help you sleep.

BB:

I have the same issues with Zith, which I also started last week. My first encounter with it (a year ago) made me extremely sick in the gut area. I cleaned up a lot of the Candida I had so, I am hopeful this round of Zith will work.

And yes, my sleep is fitfull, waking every hour. I'm just riding that out. I do take Klonopin to help fall asleep. But, it doesn't last too long in my system.

Try drinking a cup of Chamomile or mint tea before bed. Also, try using an aromatherapy difuser with lavander oil in it.

I'm not a huge advocate of sleeping pills, as they are so addictive.

Hope this is helpful. I know how you feel.

Bc

hi

i know the zithromax causes the ringing in the ears, it is a side effect of the drug, it will calm down in a week or so once your body gets used to the drug. take your zithro with food, and to get some sleep, melatonin from the health food store or order it online, take 3 mg 30 minutes before bed, and you have to turn off all your lights for it to work, then sleep comes fast. benedryl will also knock you out but may give you the shakes in the am, melatonin is better, good luck

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your help. The benadryl prevented me from going to sleep at all. I must be sensitive to it and experienced the opposite effect. I remember our 8-year-old had the exact same reaction when he was about 2. I've since forgotten why the pediatrician told us to give it to him, but he stayed up all night long that evening. I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

I'm going to stock up on tea, the 5-hydroxy-tryptophan and melatonin so I have something to fall back on in case 'plan A' fails. I really appreciate all of your help with this. Take care all.
