Well I have been lurking around this forum for some time now. For more than a year I have been suffering from a lot of strange symptoms that I have got no explaination to.

It started of with some strange pain in the back and thighs, followed by an episode of cramping in the hands and fingers one night, pain and stiffness in the hands followed for some time. Symptoms seem to have escalated and is causing pain in a lot of my muscles and I have bodywide muscletwitches which is causing me great concern. I don't think my joints are hurting, it is mostly in my muscles.

I have seen four neurologists, had an MRI-scan of the brain/spinal cord and an EMG. Everything to this day has come out normal.

I have had numerous bloodtest incl. Elisa, which was negative.

I suffer from headache and headpressure from time to time and sometimes just short stabbing pain on the sides of my head. I think my vision and eyes are affected sometimes causing my eyes to run and my vision getting unsharp. I work as an engineer and don't think I am as sharp in the head as I used to be but it is understandable with all these strange symptoms to think about.

My doctor saw me yesterday and after an examination he said that I was fine (!!!) and should see a psychiatrist and get some medication for my depression.

I am having a really hard time accepting that this is caused by a depression and "is all in my head".

Here in my country they only do the Elisa testing but I am considering going to Germany for a Western Blot test or seeing a lyme doctor.

Any advice will be most welcome
Lars

Hi Lars,

You don't say what your country is - perhaps it's in Scandinavia somewhere(?).

Anyway, there is another useful forum for those on this side of the Atlantic as there may be those who can recommend a Lyme specialist within Europe:

Most of us have been around the doctor-block quite a few times and also been told we're depressed, etc... It is infuriating and frustrating. But, now you're here and so you MIGHT be one step closer to an answer. I hope so.
