Wondering if women here have commonly had a symptom of a pus-like discharge from their breasts while on antibiotics.

This was true for me.It happened when I was 19 the first time and scared me to death. I think it's more from the infection than the abx.The abx just kind of activates the infection at first and during tx at different times.kt

Hi, For what it's worth I was told by a doc that it had something to do with the thyroid not working properly. Blessings, Marblenose

Please don't take any chances; have you get a mammogram to make sure it is NOT breast cancer.
My youngest siste got that when she was 32. She found a lump but had a hysterectomy several months prior, and told it was nothing...just the body thinking you are having your period.
Then she had stuff coming out of her nipple. This time they didn't ignore her. She had a mammogram which showed something.
She had breast biopsy, and then they found 2 different cancers growing in her breast from the lump and the discharge.
She had her breast removed & nodules checked; 4-5 of them had cancer in them so it was advanced already.
She had chemo/radiation, and was 6.5 years cancer free when the cancer went to her liver. We had her for 2 yrs., 1 month, and 3 days; she died a few months are her 41st BD!
My sister's 2 kids were: son, 14 & soon to be 15 next month, and 11 yr. old daughter, who is having a terrible time now at 16 without her beloved Mom!
So please do not gamble. We had NO BC in our family before her.
Mom had a colon to liver cancer; they were both related cancers so I stay on top of this.
Best wishes on your girlfriend's problem. Knowledge is power. Betty G., Iowa

I agree with checking for breast cancer but as a previous nurse ( before being disabled with LD ) the discharge is a symptom of the antibiotics. It messes with your hormones and causes the discharge. Get checked tho to be sure but thought I would add my two cents worth.
good luck lynne

Has anyone had a discharge other than pus like? For years, off & on have found very tiny spots in bra that are dark in color. Family doc, OB/GYN/ surgeon, mamagrams, sonagrams all can't find a thing. Only happens every now and then, sometimes not for months on end and then it shows up for 2 days in a row.
This thread has got me wondering if it could have been from the Lyme all this time which means I have had it longer than I could have ever guessed!
Any thoughts? (just had another diagnostic mamogram last Thursday and everything was fine again.) Peggy

I suggest having your Prolactin level checked. It is a hormone usually produced during pregnancy. The encephalitis caused by Lyme sometimes affects these levels. I had the problem and a mere 8 months of meds help. Fortunately, the medication (Parladel?)came in generic and had no noticable side effects.
