I was diagnosed with Lyme in Mid September of last year. I have since been on oral antibiotics for two weeks, Rocephin for 12 weeks and now Clindamyacin for a week and expect that to run a lengthy course as well. Have had 3 fainting/seizure episodes that landed me in the hospital. Some nerve damagae in my arms and legs. I do feel my doctors are doing the best they can I just need a few knowledgeable opinions that we may be missing something on the course of the treatment. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you~

Treating this disease is a long tough haul for many of us. It takes much patience and great fortitude before seeing improvement.

When I had fainting spells and landed in the ER a few times (prelyme dx)I was told I had the flu. Hah! Have since found out that this can and does go with lyme. Some have mentioned POTS as a condition which can accompany lyme.

Peripheral neuropathy, as you have in your legs, will improve with treatment. Not sure I would call it nerve damage which implies
there will be permanent damage. Bb lives in the nerves and cause problems for us which usually resolve with treatment.

I am hoping that you are being treated by a Lyme Literate MD..or as we call them LLMD's.
If not, you may find that although your doctors are trying their best...it may not be good enough...because they just are not familiar with lyme and coinfections. It sounds like you are, but wanted to make sure.

Hang in there. I am sure you'll get more opinions posted here.

Welcome to lymnet! nan

Even though it seems like you have had a lot of treatment, in dealing with Lyme you are still very early in treatment. I was on antibiotics for six months before I felt any improvement, and know that can be common. Many people need several years of treatment for late stage Lyme.

Have your doctors checked for any coinfections? Untreated coinfections can keep treatment from being as effective as it should be. Babesia and bartonella in particular will not be effected by rocephin.

I hope you see more improvement soon. I know it can be hard, once you have finally figured out what is wrong. Seems like you should be able to get better, but Lyme disease is a difficult illness to treat.
