My daughter has been on abx for about 6 months now. She started a new abx cocktail on December 2nd. 7 days later her EM rash reappeared (definite herx). It lasted for just over 2 weeks and then disappeared. During those 2 weeks, she also had several episodes of petechiae(sp?) patches and various rashes that came and went. Also, lots of moody/weepy spells (definite herxes).
Since December 23rd, she has had no symptoms/herxes that I've been able to detect.
However, yesterday and the day before (Jan. 14th & 15th), I've been a bit suspicious that she may be going through another mild herxing episode (bright red right cheek w/ small welt, small rash on left cheek, fatigue, and moody/weepy for no reason at all).
Given what you all know about when to expect herxing, could this be another herxing episode? Is the timing right?
Thanks, everyone.
Don't time herxes from the time they END, time them from the time they START.
Are you keeping a journal?
Yes, I've been keeping a journal for her since end of July when she was bitten by the ticks.
So, if herxes are timed from onset then shouldn't I time from last herx onset to day before yesterday (possible new herx onset)? If so, last onset would be Dec. 8th (EM rash recurrance) to day before yesterday (Jan. 14th - new onset). Total of approximately 5-1/2 weeks.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!!

Sorry, I know you were hoping, but it does sound like it could be a herx.
Many, many people have found that the timing of their herxes is completely unpredictable. So I would never discount symptoms because they didn't fit the timing.
The good news is that your daughter has been clear for as long as she has. And that so far, the herx seems mild. That means that her body is getting the better of the bacteria.
It would actually be more common for the herxing to slowly fade away and diminish in intensity, which it sounds like it is doing.
Yes, it means you have to start the count down over. But it also means she is getting better!
So keep your eye on the goal, and see how much closer you all are to it.

I know. I'm pathetic, aren't I?
Oh, riversinger, that is NOT what I wanted to hear! But thanks once again for being so honest with me and so supportive.
I'll try to look at this as positively as I can ... just as soon as I get over yet another heart break.
