Hi Everybody

just an odd quick question

Do any of you find that in the mornings your ankles, knees, hips etc are really really stiff and sore but then ease up throughout the day?

(I always get burning, red swollen feet but the stiffness in the mornings is a very painful new addition to the repetoir of my symptoms!)

My lyme symptoms are fairly constant (i'm undiagnosed) but this "wobbly and geriatric" start to my days has really got me worried...i feel like a little old lady with terrible arthritis but I'm only 24!!

and advice or experiences would be awesome.

thanks and best wishes to you all

Libby

Hi Libby,
Yes, I have the same problem. This morning was the worst I've had. Both hips hurt with every step and I was walking like a 90 yr old woman.

By late afternoon the pain was practically gone but I figure it will be back in the morning. Mornings are bad for me all the way around. It takes me till at least noon before I can get going.

I always schedule appts. for the afternoon just for this reason.

Take care,
Sapphire

I don't have mornings at all, go to sleep late and wake up late. I always feel better late at night, sometimes am afraid to go to sleep because I don't want to wake up in pain yet again.

I have learned to schedule my day and appts. around what works best for my health, there's no other way to do it.

When I get out of bed in the morning all I can think of is the nursery rhyme, "...there was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile..."

I get stiff during the night on my right side. My muscles contract while I'm asleep. Also, I think when I have to go to the bathroom at night my body tenses up before my brain gets the signal that it's time to go to pee.

I get better during the day too. It's important for me to keep moving as that seems to help.

Hi Libby,

I didn't have this problem until recently. I have mostly sore feet and ankles. Very stiff upon rising. It also happens if I sit still for a long time and then try to walk.

I'm in my 3rd year of treatment. It started during my Babesia treatment and has continued beyond that.

Hmm. I was looking for something about which coinfection had to do with sore feet and ankles when I ran across this in the ILADS guidelines:

"Neurologic and rheumatologic symptoms are characteristic, and increased severity of symptoms on wakening is common." --ILADS Guidelines Section III, part 14, paragraph 2 line 2

So, there you go. Very observant of us.

Take care,

Corgilla

I started noticing exactly that problem recently. First one ankle, then the other. Then for a few days my knees felt like I was wearing ski-pants (just difficult to bend). Mine doesn't get better though during the day though. I sit for long periods of time at a desk and every time I get up, it is just like getting up in the morning. After about a minute of walking, they feel much better.

I had this until I replaced my regular spring bed with a Sleep Number bed. www.sleepnumber.com

It's filled with air, so there's no pressure points on your body. And you can adjust it according to your needs. And no worries about a sagging mattress because there's no springs. It's heaven. During a short vacation in the fall, slept on a regular mattress for a few nights, and thought I would die. I woke up in agony!!

They're a bit steep on the wallet - then again, my old mattress was top of the line and it was a sagging mess in 4 years and I pitched it in the garbage.

Same exact morning symptoms for me - the mornings are a simply dreadful time - i'm 35 but feel 90 in the mornings - I don't feel human until about noon, then in the afternoons after sitting at my desk all day the symptoms return. I too must schedule my very demanding meeting times in the afternoons when my body, and my brain, are functioning a bit better than the AM hours.
