I would like to know about the PCR test which I understand is DNA specific and actually can give a positive for Lyme that Insurance companies accept. I was given this info by a long time Lymie, who is now in remission, who has had to battle it out with insurance Companies and doctors, but won with this test. Thanks.

If you get a positive, you're on your way. If it comes up negative, then you could be in "trouble" as the insurance could use this against you.

Do a search here by clicking on the little blue word "search" in the upper right hand corner of this page.

I don't know the technical stuff concerning this test and have not had it myself. I hope someone comes along soon who can help you!

Thank you both, you have been very helpful. Now I am begining to understand what the PCR test does, or is for. It's to find the DNA of the Lyme critter. The person who told me about it today said having it was crucial to proving Lyme's existance to Insurance, etc. Makes sense now. I will have to do some more reading and learning.

You might want to ask your insurance company what labs they'll ACCEPT..

Every insurance company is different..
Some exclude some labs.
