I also have tiny little lesions on my eyelids near my eyelashes and get crusties all the time and it itches somewhat. Also my eyes feel like they are kind of numb like when the eyedoctor puts drops in your eyes. Not to mention how both of my eyes twitch like crazy! Anyone have this? Can't wait to get my Western Blot drawn on Tuesday.

Also a separate question, I have expired Doxycycline in my cabinet (only 4 months old) and actually considered taking it because I was scared if it was Lyme that it would get worse. I know your not supposed to take expired antiobiotics but I don't want to sit and wait and have it possibly get worse. I probably will not take them and wait for my results to come back.

Absolutely,
Conjunctivitis (on and off for a year or so,for me) was my first concrete symptom of lyme, although I did not know it at the time.

Not at all uncommon.
Don't know about antibiotics.

Lymelady

Yes...eyes definately can be affected by lyme.

All 4 of us had lots and lots of conjunctivitis that always cleared up with antibiotic eye drops (seemed to be bacterial, not viral kind). We haven't had pink eye for over a year now.

Hey Nuke girl!! work at Peach?

There is a great lyme literate neuro-opthmologist in Lancaster..He has contributed to some of the lyme literature..He is easly to schedule and you can go to Willow Street or Lancaster..I would spend the extra money and get a close expert..If interested, email me and I will give you info..

Also if you look at the top of the screen when you are on flash, you will see 4 or 5 places to click under the title..The one on the right is search..Go there and then type in a search on eye problems and then Tincup at the bottom..She is the expert here probably..You should then get a listing of some of her posts.

Lymemomtoo,

Funny you should ask, my husband works for Exelon/Peach. I am seeing the an opthomologist tomorrow and will tell him what has been going on with me. He is actually an eye surgeon-but maybe until I get my bloodwork back that says I actually have Lyme he can give me something for my eyes.

DO NOT take the expired doxycycline. The tetracyclines are one family of drugs that the expiration date does matter. I've included a link that includes this warning and have provided the italicized text below!!

Do not take any doxycycline after the expiration date printed on the bottle. Expired doxycycline can cause a dangerous syndrome resulting in damage to the kidneys.

I haven't taken any, and I actually know better. I now feel stupid for even considering it.
