Hi Lymers,

Just a question for you veterans. I seems that after I eat sweets I get an increase in symptoms?? What is going on here? Especially after really sweet stuff like ice cream and starbuck's caramel machiados??

Anyone else??

For one thing, sweets can exacerbate yeast
and feed it, along with the spirochetes. I
have a young art student with lyme, who says
he gets rib pain when he eats sugar. Hard for a 11-yr-old.

The insulin response also is tied up with inflammation. That is the reason Patricia Kane recommends a low carb diet in chronic illness, to reduce the inflammatory cascade.

For all of the above reasons, Lyme patients should eat low carb... Not always an easy thing.

Fernando-

Yes, I've had a problem with achy/cracking joints, sore muscles and fatigue for years before I ever had Lyme. It can definitely be yeast related. (I used to blame it on a million other things but when I finally laid off the sugar and carbs it made a HUGE difference)

Click on Lymetoo's links and do a search on Candida, sugar, aspartame and yeast for tons of discussion on this forum for more info.

These folks know what they're talking about for sure.

Wishing you fast healing and good health!

Hi CaliLymer,

I can not eat sugar at all...none. I can eat some carbs in the form of a sweet potato..maybe a cracker. It's very hard, but I feel better when I eat this way.

Good luck to you.
