As temperature decreases, the pH at which water is `neutral' increases 0.017 units for each C decrease in temperature
pH-Stat
 Alternative method of acid-base management
Here, pH is maintained constant over varying temperatures
 Therefore, as blood is cooled:
i) CO2 must be added to maintain a PaCO2 of 40 and a pH of 7.4
ii) extracellular & intracellular ratio of H+ to OH is changed
iii) total CO2 stores are elevated
Seen in hibernating animals in which the ensuring acidosis depresses metabolism in non functioning tissues
[note that during hypothermia, a pH of 7.4 is acidotic)

Researchers are developing instruments to measure hematocrit, TISSUE pH and tissue oxygenation using near infared (NIR) spectroscopic techniques. This research is done to help our astronautes (whose PFK levels drop) and they get anemic...Skylab.

Go here for info:

This is not only going to help our astronauts...we will all greatly benefit by knowing what the pH and oxygenation level of our tissues is.

To the top.

And...

Panic attacks...sudden Mg spiral downward...what do we do? Blow into a paper bag! ;-) Rebreathe Co2.

On the home front...boy, we sure could use *tissue* pH testing RIGHT NOW. Son's urine pH this am was 5. Yes, he's REALLY acidic.

Meyer's cocktail tomorrow.

I have been looking for this kind of info!

Will you give me any recipes that would do this?

Imagine myself eating fireplace ashes!

Thanks,
Linda

We didn't make it until today for the Meyer's cocktail for our son.

Yesterday we spent 6 hours in ER...went via ambulance.

Son had chest pain, blue fingernails, panic, tachycardia...130. Hives beginning. Benadryl given immediately.

Given IV Mg - 2 grams and vits (Meyer's). Pulse still 120...given another IV with potassium which lowered pulse to 100.

Tender near GB...ultrasound okay. Normal blood work looks okay. Doc is very puzzled.

WHY is his cholesterol only 92 (repeated test)? (Make no bile salts when this low.)

No clues yet. Testing for hormones, neurotransmitters, INTRACELLULAR levels of minerals and vits (via urine and saliva) sent to Wis. and awaiting (2 weeks) results. To do stool spec. testing at Smoky Mt. and hair analysis for heavy metals. Getting kits to send tomorrow.

Really puzzling! And very scarey.

This seemed to all start very, very suddenly on the 4th of July. Sudden explosive diarrhea. Okay...which pathogen did he come into contact with? Then appendectomy 1 week later (not "hot")...then strobe lights at a musical...down, down, down went his Mg level. And he's already low...ADHD, autism - high functioning, migraines, seizure disorder...

Linda, go here:

Look very closely at ``most alkaline'' (upper left corner) and then across to the right re: artemesia...
