Had a clinical diagnosis this week by a llmd and have just taken the blood tests.

Next appointment is in about 4 weeks, Treatment starts then.

I currently have an annoying male yeast infection that I want to get rid of before taking antibiotics. Tried diflucan, didn't work. Anyone any suggestions

Questions:

I realize everyone is different. I have likely had lyme for 20 + years.

For those that have had it for a long time on a dormant or low active state, when you look back, do you see some symptoms that have come out at various times that you shrugged off as infections the flu or something else?

Is the treatment a pill or something else?
Once you begin, how long until you start feeling the effects (Herxing?)

How long can this Herxing last and how severe can it be?

I got the impression that the cognitive difficulties can clearup in about 8 months and I might be OK to a return to work. Right now I am totally disabled.

Does that sound right? There seems to be many on this board that need a lot longer to get better?

I have had MRI's from 16 years ago along with more recent. All show unchanged small white leasions in the white matter that is not characteristic of MS in size, location or shape. Is there a way that doctors can ascertain if these are caused by lyme? Does lyme cause leasons?

WELCOME To LYMENET

Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

Post for a LLMD in Seeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.

Welcome brighty! cave answered your questions very well!

You might want to check out the Candida diet so you can get things under control. Also, how long did you take the Diflucan? It may not have been long enough. [obviously, if you're still having problems]

I found that I had to follow this diet pretty carefully or the yeast would get out of control. You don't want that!

I basically eat meat and vegetables. Very few carbs.

I would get yeast taken care of before starting any Lyme treatment. Who knows if your symptoms are Lyme or yeast otherwise? If you have yeast on your body, then it is a problem from within. Also, when you start antibiotics the yeast will get more out of control. Please consider this advice before diving into some horrific, never ending antibiotic protocol.

Welcome!

I had Lyme for many years in a dormant/less active state. I was probably infected when I was 12, had first symptoms (besides the intitial rash) at 14 and diagnosis at 29.

During the 15 years in between, I had some symptoms that now made sense. Because of my age at infection, my body was going through changes anyway. I have had a lot of pain in my life that I thought was normal. Much of it I had forgotten about.

About a year ago, I came across my teacher comments from a semester I spent studying theater in London, while in college. My movement teacher talked about my need to address my back issues, and one of the acting teachers mentioned my need to work on opening up physically. Suddently, I remembered how much pain I was in then. I had totally forgotten!

I haven't had many neuro symptoms though. Mine are mostly muscle and connective tissue.

-Best of luck
Aniek
