I have been tring to get ahold of him at the numbers found on this page (http://www.columbia-lyme.org/flatp/directions.html). Calling all morn from San Diego. It just keeps ringing. No luck.

My dad has been having some real bad mental problems we believe they are Lyme related. Trying to get him out of the mental hospital where they won't give him antibiotics and into good hands. Help.

(212) 543-5000

This is the main number of the New York State Psychiatric Institute where his lab is located. I would try this number and ask...

Also, tell him the name of the LLMD you see--I think he picks up his phone for referrals.

But he always acts like, it's not just you.

Hi newlymepatient,

I'm so sorry about your Dad, my Mom also has mental probelms..trying to get her treated also.
Hang in there. it's very hard dealing with mental probelms, but there is hope, abx works.

Symptoms have intensified since on treatment, so I'm under the impression that they related. Maybe you can get him a spect scan or mri. They're not always going to show something, but maybe if he's advaced they will. Mental illness is so hard to understand unless you're going through it. Prayers for your dad - they say it gets worse before it gets better.

Hi,
Sorry your dad is not doing well. Here is Dr. Fallon's direct phone number-212-543-5487. Since they don't know your dad's case personally and havn't seen him to evaluate him, they most likely won't be able to advise from a legal/medical/ethical standpoint.

But maybe they know someone in your area to be in a position to help. I read some of your earlier posts and it sounds like your dad is really ill. Hang in there.

Dear NewlyLyme,

I am so sorry you are going through this. Bev, my heart goes out to you too re your mom...

Our son is a patient of Dr. F but we had the same difficulties making contact until, as Liz mentioned, we had our LLMD give him the heads up.

If you don't have an LLMD, that would be the place to start. Put out a post that you are looking for a southern cal LLMD.

Also, Cigi's idea about getting an MRI and SPECT Scan is good. I understand that the MRI needs to be with contrast and some other factors I can't recall. Need LLMD advice on that.

The LLMD may also have ideas to help you "arrange" these and other tests you'll need so that you get insurance coverage.

Prayers for you and your Dad.

Keep us posted, okay?

love,
andie, JC & Julie

Dr. H ( a good llmd) may still have an office in San Diego, or at least could recommend someone in San Diego area. I will email you his number. It may be as easy as as Lyme/coinfections tests and a brain spec.

Good luck, Ernie
