I contracted Lyme disease at the end of last year and I also have Type II diabetes. I have noticed a spike in my blood sugar ever since. I was treated early for Lyme with 3 weeks of antibiotics and haven't had any of the symptoms since. Is this a coincidence, stress or a result of the tick bite, lyme etc.. Anyone experiance this?

Hope this helps!

WELCOME To LYMENET
Maybe some info for you here to.
Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

Post for a LLMD in Seeking a Doctor. Ps remember I am not a Dr, just a fellow sufferer.

My daughter has type 1 diabetes and Lyme, and it definitely affects blood sugars.

I am concerned for you when you say you had 3 weeks of antibiotics. I can tell you, form my own experience, that that may not have been long enough, even for early treatment, and esp. w/diabetes. I don't know what med or what dose either.

If you blood sugars are high, that can be from your immunce system trying to fight something- could be leftover Lyme.

I'd get to a good Lyme specialist or LLMD as they say around here. Your Lyme doctor may not totally understand diabetes (we've found) but would know enough about it to give you aggressive and longer treatment. You are still at an early point- act fast and you have hope!

I don't mean to scare you, but I also ahd 3 weeks of very early treatment, adn woke up 14 months later with my arms, face and legs "on fire" and am still struggling 3 years later w/many symptoms.
