I am trying and have been for years to get on an anti-depressant...it seems whenever I add them to my regime I get weird symptoms a few hrs after taking my antibiotics that I wouldn't normally get had I not taken the anti-depressant.
The two meds I have had this problems with are Effexor at 18.75 mg and Celexa 5 mg.

I find a few hrs after taking my abx, I will get changes in my breathing, where it becomes more audible, and pronounced like a feeling of restriction in my lower abdomen...and I can't get enough air in .I will also get shortness of breath after climbing stairs and with some anti-depressants have had heavy mucles when trying to exert myself...then a few hrs later these symptoms will pass.....This happens on even the smallest dose of anti-depressant and I can never get up to a high enough dose to get the anti-depressant effect.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be going on? Am I deficient in something or am I just having problems metabolizing these substances because of the imbalance in my liver detox pathways ie- Phase I and Phase II?

Thanks
Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Please add additional info by EDITING your post:

show what meds you are taking, dosage, and daily? then those with medical experience can help you better.

Also, it's helpful to show a specific med in topic since folks don't have time to read all posts.

I'm on zoloft, 100 mg daily & do not experience anything. Betty G.
